I finally found the name of the game, its not even on the pc engine. The games name is Zanac X. Japanese like to chunk words, so Zanac X, became Z-cross. (they call street fighter ii "Suto Two", pocket monster "pokemon", Monster Hunter "mohon", Puzzle dragon "Puzzdra", Dragon Quest "Draque", and the list goes on.

Thank you guys for helping me! I appreciate

2 of the first cd base consoles, they both start with a "P" hahah

I think he was refering to Zanac on the NeS, but he must have played Zanac X later and that name stuck in his head.

Because he recognized the Nes screenshot. By nes i mean famicom ;)

well the PCE was by a far the first CD-ROM based console of the two (in fact it was the first cd-rom based game related device at all). then we also had stuff like Marty, Amiga CD32, CD-TV etc. before sony was even considering to bring out anything like a cd-based console.

PCE Shmups countdown: 111/111 (all clear!!)
Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^

Tatsujin, you do understand that for kids playing video games in the 80s - 90s in Japan, those consoles that you mentionned aren't known by most. those weren't maintream, didn't get any public here. So for my coworkers and I, Pc engine was the first, and then Saturn/Psone (The megadrive wasn't a big thing in Japan, therefore most of my friends are unaware of the Mega cd. They always ask me questions when they see my sega timeline shirt)

Anyway, point is, they were confused on the name of the game, it happens, I asked for your help, some guided me in the right direction.

sure thing :) only wanted to point out, that the PCE did the CD thing much earlier than the PS and SS did.
