The thing is they don't even treat it like ebay. They come looking for buddy deals and elicit sympathy, but when it comes time to sell, they ignore past forum prices and member quotes, cite ebay and vgpricecharting, and conveniently ignore that they don't have to pay 20% of the sale price in ebay/paypal fees.
I don't much get into this sale stuff, I've sold on here before and been sure to set prices to a point where they're a bit more fair than ebay, but not so good of a price that I'd be bothered to see it flipped on ebay.
Vestcoat sums up what a lot of people look out for, here. Giving, "buddy" prices to someone who may just end up flipping it on ebay, or when it comes time to sell something, going to ebay first.
There have been some messy situations here in the past, particularly with Magical Chase. It's understandable why some people here are cautious with whom they deal with.
I'd been burnt by a bad deal before, years ago, from someone who used to change their handle on ebay and such. Years later, I saw a member here got burnt by the same guy, also. That guy was conned the same way I was. Things like this, tend to be remembered by some members.
Sometimes the comments take things a bit too far, and get a bit silly, but there are reasons why some people on this forum are cautious about whom they deal with.
