hello.
« on: June 08, 2006, 12:43:31 PM »
i'm new here, obviously, and i'm still also fairly new to the whole turbografx scene. my older brother gave me his a few years ago just on a whim and it came with six games.

initially i just played splatterhouse but then i checked out the others. alien crush, keith courage, china warrior, turrican and world class baseball. one by one i was swept away by each game...ones my brother says he never even played.

he bought it for splatterhouse, and that was fine with me. i've just recently started to expand what is now my library and i'm looking for people that share my enthusiasm for the coolest systems ever, as well as some that can fill me in on some good games in the proper forum.

thank you for your time, and goodnight.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yes, as Tron said, keep a very close eye on your money because Turbo collecting is known to be addictive and can cause massive money loss  .

Turbografx 16's Japanese alter ego won't put as much big of a crater in your wallet.

yeah. i noticed the pc engines going for like $40. but other than as a collector's item those are kinda useless and i couldn't play anything on it, whether it's my inability to comprehend japanese, or the system's inability to play american hucards.

A PC Engine without a A/V booster is usless maybe, but if it did, 40 is a pretty damn good deal. Don't let the language barrier get to you man, you'll be missing out on tight ass shooters and action platformers with some killer music that never made it to TG16.

The TG16 only has a handful of games compared to the PCE library. With the exception of the RPGs and digial comic games (such as Snatcher and Cobra), knowing japanese is not required. Besides, the PCE got all the best games that were never released on hucard and cd-rom format.

i know all that. i've been rummaging around through various sites with info on NEC's systems for the past week now before i found here. out of like 1,000 games we got like 140. i'll look into it, maybe i'd get a kick out of it...but i'm not much for import games.

Oh ho, (speaking from my experience) once you go import, you'll NEVER turn back.  :P Mark my word.

Pretty soon you'll be eatin' them words.

No CD add-on yet? Get it! And start stocking up on Turbo CD games.  They're what made the Turbo!  8)

Riddle me this: if Deathgyunos was a god, why did he fall before Prettz's Murasame so easily?

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!
