Man, how dare I join a collecting forum for a console, and then try to collect for it.
HOW DARE I!?!

its not really a "collecting" forum.  if you just take a little time to read and post in other threads, people will eventually make deals with you.  you got to be genuine about it. not just a generic "here i am, heres what im looking for" then sit back and wait for PMs.  this shit is scarce enough.  peeps here dont just have piles to off load for folks we dont know.  And it doesnt exactly help your credibility that you are only looking for crap to help "complete" your games.  it already smells like you wont be around for long and just joined because you hoped this was some secret goldmine you happen to find.  most forums arent as tight as this one, people here actually know each other for the most part.  also, referencing NA wont help your cause at all.

I take it you see all retro gaming as a collectible hobby?

Perhaps game enthusiast forums are the minority now, but this one is based on celebrating the games and history and it is very obvious if you take any time to look around.

The best place to get your own box like that is to go to 1990 and get one.  There are tons of them there, all in perfect condition.

To think .. I had everything in that picture. With exception of Turbo Stick and only have about half of those games.  I still envy that guy that walked into my garage sale and picked up minty CIB lot.  If only I knew then, what I know now.  And it was all to raise money to build myself a PC.  But was a necessity of the time. Always selling the older system, to buy what was next. Now I find myself keeping boxes and inserts for everything gaming or electronic. It drives my wife nuts, and my 7 year old daughter is turning into a solid gamer, and collector also.

Man this picture brings back memories. I had every piece of hardware in that pic when it was released back in the day and several of the games too. I remember picking up the Turbo CD from Toys R Us, had to ask my mom to user her Mini van since the box was so huge, lol.

Fire up the wayback machine Mr. Peabody, We need some minty turbo stuff like we used to have. I too remember having all the boxes ect. ect. I never kept them because back then no one knew the box alone would be worth a Zillion dollars. I was more worried about getting the unit, games, controllers out of the box to try them out. Even today I don't keep a hold of stuff (shrugs) probably should but I'm not that guy, my big pay out for the games and systems is enjoying them, but thats me :-)

I honestly do not see what harm there was in his post.  I can understand jumping the new guy that comes in and automatically makes a FS thread with crazy prices, but someone trying to grow his collection or library??  How many good folk are we scaring off by using this tactic?  When I first joined, I may or may not have done the same.  I honestly don't remember, but it was very soon afterwards when I started a WTB thread.  Hell, one of my first wants was Crater Maze of all games.... lmao

I agree with Bernie. I think y'all are being a bit rough this time. I didn't see the original post so I can't say for sure but c'mon people... not everyone out there is a shyster.

It's a collecting and collectors forum. Almost everyone here has fetishes for CIB, CIC, random boxes, plastic sleeves, manuals and cases, obsession to complete the 94 titles, obsession to complete 94 titles plus all the cd titles, obsession for PCE games and dreams of having them all, storage cases for systems, having multiple NEC systems, having doubles and multiples of same thing, the list is endless.

It's primarily a collectors forum. Also a hoarding forum as well.
