It's just the thing to do lol this guy that guy I just saw another thread with the same shit but I guess they are ok cuz they are from CanaDUH. And seeing as how you Necro, are the forums "bad guy" I just thought you might want to be the first to shit on them :-)

they did the same to me. I came here, introduced myself, even to the detail of where I'm from, who I am and what I like to do and they still tried to get rid of me. They are doing the same to you and they same thing to the OP. It looks like this forum is a group of 20 trolls that troll the crap out of anyone new. The best thing to do against them is to participate in all the thread, but don't curse and stay on topic. When they post a troll message after yer decent posts, just don't answer it.

How many good folk are we scaring off by using this tactic?

a lot. That's why most of the Turbo community is on ebay and behind the scenes. Only the 20 something of you on this community that all know each other and have your little circle of trust.

The real Turbo community is global, it's not limited to this forum only.

Well stated. I have thought the hate and aggression level towards new members is quite high on here, even if there has been past douche baggery afoot. No reason we can't give new folks the benefit of the doubt. We're all collectors here and if one is willing to compensate fairly in a deal, I don't see the point to berate them just cause they are new to this forum. Mechanics are already in place (i.e. minimum post counts in raffles, the ability to quote prices for your own expendable items, etc.) to protect the members here. Why the elitism that goes with it?

It has been that way forever, either grow some thick skin and roll with it or move on.

^ all great points! thick skin, roll with it, stay on topic of threads, don't flame or curse and last but not least, ignore all negative posts from the "regular" members here because they do that to test and provoke you into trolling.

Do all that and as a new member your time spent here won't be so distasteful. There is a wealth of great information on this forum, unfortunately you have to register to view it. I bet if everyone was able to view all the info, then there would be no need for people to register.

All true but if you are some other pole smoking fashion victim that has caused shit here in the past you will be found out and most likely humiliated into leaving. Lets hope for your sake and the sake of others your not here for bullshit reason and not some f*ck tard thats trying to start a new.  I personally have nothing against anyone here but this is a tight knit community and as it was said before most of us know or have a very good idea of whos who around here. I was a member for a year before I even made my first post.  Good luck to you and all new guys reading this!!!

It's not a matter of thin-skinned or not. I'm just saying there are two ways to get new members that are here for the forum as much as they are here for the collecting. You can expect them to know the etiquette of the forum before they join as is the system currently in place here or we can all treat each other better.

I joined a forum (almostsmart.com) years ago before P2P download programs solely because they had MP3s uploaded on the forum. I then stuck around for years (well beyond my need for their MP3s) because the conversations were stimulating. They were welcoming to their new members regardless of their motivations for joining.

I'm just saying that if the regulars on this forum actually want lasting new members, there are better ways to cultivate them than the current practice in place.

This is my first time on this forum. I am not here to start anything. I was instigated into some of my posting. Now that I have learned my lesson on how the regulars here act I will adjust to them. Once again I'm not here to start anything. I have a good collection of Turbo stuff and could even post pictures as proof if needed. Thank you for wishing me luck. I hope it's not gonna be so bad that I will need luck. I can always ignore the people who are here to hate me.

Also a suggestion on raffles and sales. I think you should limit them to people who have been here for lets say 5 years or more. That way you can prevent yourselves from paranoia of some past troubled members coming back and taking advantage of the great deals. Me personally I am not here to participate in raffles or any sales. I do well money wise and have almost everything I need as far as video gaming world goes. Not here to take advantage of anything or anyone. So hopefully that clears up everything.

I'm new here as well and I agree that it would have been helpful to be able to browse this forum before my account was approved. When my account was approved though, I quickly learned that this forum is about appreciating NEC/TG/PCE and not about going from 5 games to 75 games.

I've been on forums before where a member's first post is a "WTB: This or that expensive game."  I do want to pick up some games from other members here but I want to learn as much as I can about the systems and its games before I think about that. I don't think I ever saw a TG-16 growing up where I did. Always thought the attitude I saw in commercials and ads was cool. That's why I came here. (I did enter a raffle though, so don't hate.)

Registering is mandatory, posting is optional ! Why does it matter that you have to register to view.  You can do that then remain silent and consume all the great information that's in this forum. What you are saying is "you have the right to remain silent, you just lack the ability."

Now, I'm just busting your balls alittle.

This forum is not about amassing large numbers of members. Yeah, this forum is kind of elitist, but that's one of its strengths. If you don't have the skin for a place that vets everyone from the very beginning, then perhaps this isn't the place for you. If you're passionate about the PCE, no amount of vetting should scare you away. It's a filter to see who's got passion and who's just here for buddy deals and/or fly-by-night scams.

Oh... and no Nazis or child porn collectors allowed either. Yeah... we've had both here.

When you have people signing up here making threads trying to sell their Nazi Turbobwares you tend to get thick skin very fast.

Every new member goes through a hazing ritual.  If you can take the little bit of heat thrown at you and you manage to get off of your high douchebag of a shelf without too much shaming you'll pull through fine here as a regular member.  If all you see is a flame war coming at you and you start loading your rifle to return fire you won't last very long here.

I appreciate the strict regime here.  It keeps the racist f*cks out.

The bulk of this very true.... Hazing is a part of it and you can choose to work though it or move on. Just like almost all new members will tell you...

I don't think my point is coming across. I've not had anything thrown at me I can't handle, not by a long shot. Just saying not everyone can handle it.

I'm curious what exactly "nazi turbowares" consists of. I wasn't aware such a thing existed. I can only assume that some misguided individual created something.
