Being the huge Ys fan that I am, I imported Wanderers from Ys for the PS2 and just finished playing through it last night. I've played through the Turbo, SNES, and Genesis ports along with Oath in Felghana previously and I must say that I loved this PS2 port. I'm a huge fan of 2D artwork and it's pretty amazing in this game. Much of it has a painted look to it and the sprites look very nice as well. It was pretty easy though, much easier that the 16-bit versions. The music is also very nice though not quite up to par with the Turbo or Oath in Felghana tracks. The only downside is that there is no English version or translation patch. Of course, anyone who has played Ys III knows the storyline already but it would still be nice to play it in English. I highly recommend this game for any Ys fan.

Sort of related question to this post. How do you guys pronounce the title of this game? Is it "ees" or "wyes?" I've heard it both ways.

You say it's easier than the Turbo version? I didn't think it could get any easier than that... you can blow through the Turbo version in less than a day if you have enough time

ees.  It's the first thing that is said in the intro for Book 1 and 2

いーせ。!

ease eh? :-k
Maybe いーす would be better.
This is the correct Japanese pronunciation but the Katakana characters should be used, not hiragana.

It has three difficulty settings - easy, normal, and hard. I played through it on normal and beat it in 3 and 1/2 hours. It's quite easy, especially if you take the time to level up a few extra levels. Makes the bosses super easy. Still, the game is fun and very pretty.

Just doesn't look right to me... if there's no epilepsy inducing jerky background scrolling, it ain't Ys III.
The original on X68k has beautiful scrolling.  I liked the added slide feature in this version but for some reason it just felt a little more bland to me than the pc-e or x68k version.

Wouldn't the original have been the PC-88 and PC98 releases?
