A high enough post count (>100) makes sure you'll always be eligible for any raffle for one and higher than that kinda indicates you give a shit about the place, that you've hung out here frequently enough and what not. If you got at least a thousand, it's some kind of an indicator you're a regular around here.
If there are pointless posts, well, that's relative to everyone. What you might find pointless, others might not, and certainly the person who made the post didn't. At least you can say you've got active members that keep the place going, even if some of the stuff is silly or mindless attempts at entertaining ourselves like perhaps the word association thread that was mentioned.
