The big box that Al sent me from the UK was slightly beat up, but par on the course I thought. It cost 15 GBP to send it to Chicago which comes out to $24.86 USD. That there is the UK rate, or close enough.
Back in 2006, an old friend that resides in Finland, Akimaru (from the Ys IV project), asked me for a favor to buy something for him from TurboZoneDirect, that 6 foot extension cable for the Turbo Duo... TZD had a flat rate of $30 bucks for international orders, no bones about it whatever the item. So he bought it, gave my address to mail it to me for the US $5 rate. When I went to the Post Office to redeliver, I chose the cheapest "Economy Letter-Post" option for him at $4.10 which equaled 4-6 weeks by shipping boat service, etc. (as the employee explained it to me)!!! Hahaha!
So I checked my logs, I mailed it on February 9, 2006, and it finally arrived on March 31, 2006!! That's about 7 weeks! Hah, I'm a cheap bastard, what can I say... So, instead of $30, he paid $9.10 for S/H and threw $5 bucks my way for helping him out. It wasn't such a pressing item that he needed it right away, though the concern was for this method getting it lost, but it made it.
