BIG PROBLEM!!! Please Advise
« on: June 11, 2006, 09:50:33 PM »
Hey fellas, I know it's been awhile. I have a huge problem. I am selling my copy of Sapphire on E-Bay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8291894524&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
and I have been told its a fake. Apparently I got ripped when I bought it. I thought I had done all the checks correctly, but in light of the new information posted, I'm still confused.
My copy is still as yet unopened, so I have no way to tell the markings on the disc itself, and while the pull tab and some of the coloration are consistant with what is a fake, the spinecard is cut and looks identical to the original one.
So I don't want to rip anyone off. I need money towards a new (to me) car,
but I am definitely not trying to cheat anyone. I started the bidding at 50 bucks, which I think is fair. It's about the price of a new game...

Anyhow, my bitching aside, do you think I should pull the auction? please let me know ASAP.
Thanks in advance,
M.

I think at the least you should mention on the auction that you are unsure if it's legitimate or not and also specify the information you specified in this thread. Pulling the auction for awhile might be a good idea also.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I left the auction up, but edited the description a bit. Keranu: thanks for the advice, I appreciate everyones quick and honest answers. Unfortunately, I can't pull it with 24 hours or less to go I think.
Please check and let me know.
Thanks again everyone.

Still says nothing about the chance of it being a fake, a little decieving imo.  :?

Taking a closer look at the pics you posted, and a site made by a fellow forum member http://www.superpcenginegrafx.com/sapcomp1.html it would seem that the version you have is in fact a fake.  While your price is initially set right, I would make some sort of notation about it in the auction so as not to "confuse" anyone who wants to bid.

I did edit the description, but apparently it didn't show up. I did it again, and it seems to be working this time. Thanks again.

Good job, mate. I might've actually bought this game from you, but I am spending a lot of money on something else at the moment :( .

Thanks for the support gents. I just don't want to rip anyone off you know? That's one of the reasons I am thankful for the e-mails and help from everyone here. It's hard to get an honest deal on E-Bay as it is without having someone try to gouge you on top of it. Thanks again everyone, I'll let you know how it goes.
