Hi Folks

I have often wondered who this guy is who appears quite regular in PC Engine adverts, anyone know?

I read somewhere who he is but can't remember, think he's some Japanese celebrity of the era.

In his current pictures (in which he, justly, looks significantly older), he appears a bit more staid and respectable. Seems unusual for a Japanese comedian. Maybe he's finally slowed down a little.

Thank you, kindly.

Don't forget many of us are illiterate when it comes to moon tunes and even worse when it comes to Japanese pop culture from the early 90's

I try to use OCR but, as you can imagine, the results are often hilariously confusing.

Thank you for the information, it is appreciated :-)

Like esteban I do not read/speak any Japanese and generally rely on Google translate (and the app) for translations of magazine articles etc.  and of course the nice folk here :-)

Take a look at my links thread under 'Magazines and Newsletters etc.' there are some scans of Japanese PC Engine magazines that you may find interesting.

I can read very basic Japanese like Katakana, Hiragana and only a couple hundred Kanji.
I did not realise that was his name in the pictures.
