FS: NICE TG16 and CD ROM set w/cd system card and cables!
« on: October 12, 2014, 04:32:52 PM »
Hey guys/gals,
I am selling my turbografx 16 and cd rom set on ebay if anyone is interested. not looking to sell outside of ebay, I like using it just to keep all parties in a safe transaction   :)

It is a very nice system, probably the best condition wise that I have come across in a long time, and i just replaced the middle gear in the cd rom unit to boot. pics/info on the link below.

Thanks!

We already know how to search eBay, your post is spam.

What a joke, the CD drive is clearly well-used from the photos and you don't even have the carrying case.  I guess the "nicest working CD ROM unit [you] have ever come across" means you've only ever seen this unit?

And you say "the CD ROM attachment base itself does have a scratch along the underside of it" but somehow it's still "the best condition wise" you have seen?  What???
I'm not sorry about this, as I'm not sorry about ANY attack by the goverrats.

Lochlan, I'm not sure if you just always respond to people with such negativity, but there is no need for it.

I sent a link to ebay because the site rules for this selling forum state EBAY user feedback as appropriate to confirm both the item for sale as well as the seller's trust-worthiness. You might want to re-read the rules if for some reason this rule strikes a nerve with you.

The cd rom system is indeed in very nice condition, as I stated in what we adults refer to as an opinion. It shouldn't warrant the way you apparently are used to talking to people.  I also stated there were light scratches along the top of the system due to normal age that comes along with storage. I in no way called it a "kept in box its whole life and never used minty fresh holy grail of a beauty OMG OMG" but I have dealt with electronics my entire life, and even had many game systems growing up along with a turbo duo, and I collect most of them even now, so I know what wear can be expected by a teenager, and this system is ALOT better than that. There was absolutely no dust build up anywhere on or in the unit, and the board inside it was incredibly clean with no trace of any liquid spills, capacitor leaks, or bulging of any of the capacitors whatsoever. And I'm sure you also know that with the small number of US cd releases, even the average use of the US cd system is far from enough to wear out the unit like the japanese version. I'm not sure why you feel the need to call any of that a joke, as it is just plain rude.

I also noted that the cd rom attachment base had a scratch along the underside of it, due to my own need to give full disclosure of that item's condition and being nit picky myself about those kinds of things. I was not referring to the base attachment in any way when I stated the CD ROM UNIT'S CONDITION as being the nicest I had ever come across. Please reread the item description as I think you got the two mixed up there.

Maybe he did a drunk post like I always do. Hahah...

LOL I dunno, I was kinda taken back by his comment myself.... I mean I know there are people who just throw junk out on ebay, but this isnt the case. I hate when people dont show good pictures or list something as "untested" or "unknown".  I kinda value my seller reputation on Ebay too much to do something like that. I just enjoy getting game systems back into top shape and letting them continue to be enjoyed, and this one only needed a new cd rom gear to get back in tip top shape. No soldering, no laser adjustments, etc. The only reason I am selling it is because I already have a built pc engine cd system with super cd card, so I dont need the US version (had about 6 tg 16's in my lifetime, and I just like the pc engine looks better). And of course I have Christmas coming up, and 2 boys who are always bugging me for something new.... If it wasnt for that, I'd keep this one in a heartbeat!

You might want to re-read the rules....

Sage advice for yourself, that.  If you read them closely, you'll see that being rude is not disallowed.

I know im still a little green 'round here, but I personally feel that thist post is indeed useless spam. Posting an item in here under the title "FS" dictates that you are selling it ON HERE in the forum and not on ebay. Furthermore, its obvious to me that you established a handle over here in our forum to promote your ebay listing... thats a little elementary

You are correct Necromancer.. it is not disallowed.

However, it is a bit inappropriate when someone is just trying to sell something.

Exactly, if it's already on gougebay then it has enough publicity, no need to list it here. We all know how to f*ckin search that site. Sales here should be for the members to benefit from, not running ad space to help promote your crap.

While I agree with you guys about ebay posts being worthless, it's not against the rules.  Move on.

A few times when I sold something on ebay I would offer some sort of a discount to forum members like 10% off their final bid or whatever if it sold to someone on the forum.  Just a thought.

There is nothing wrong with posting ebay links Lochlan.

You're right, there's nothing inherently wrong with it.  I found it mildly annoying that he explicitly said he would not end early (considering we can all search ebay without his help), but the part that really grinds me gears is the auction description for well-used system that said:

"nicest working CD ROM unit [the seller has] ever come across"

"The pictures just don't do it justice."

Like it's one thing to play up your auction, but this dude is being pretty damn disingenuous with the way he's phrasing everything.  The OP has a beat up system and he wants to church it up--I get the motivation, I think everybody is guilty of that to some degree at one point or another, but it's just noise.

You're right to imply that I'm being a bit unreasonable, but this post was just the perfect storm of nonsense and I was already in a bad mood for totally unrelated reasons...so here we are.

Maybe he did a drunk post like I always do. Hahah...

Heh nope, just being an a$$hole.  Maybe I should have stayed silent, IDK.  Necro is right to say that this guy is not breaking rules.  So whatevs, I guess.  /shrug
