There is nothing wrong with posting ebay links Lochlan.

You're right, there's nothing inherently wrong with it.  I found it mildly annoying that he explicitly said he would not end early (considering we can all search ebay without his help), but the part that really grinds me gears is the auction description for well-used system that said:

"nicest working CD ROM unit [the seller has] ever come across"

"The pictures just don't do it justice."

Like it's one thing to play up your auction, but this dude is being pretty damn disingenuous with the way he's phrasing everything.  The OP has a beat up system and he wants to church it up--I get the motivation, I think everybody is guilty of that to some degree at one point or another, but it's just noise.

You're right to imply that I'm being a bit unreasonable, but this post was just the perfect storm of nonsense and I was already in a bad mood for totally unrelated reasons...so here we are.

Maybe he did a drunk post like I always do. Hahah...

Heh nope, just being an a$$hole.  Maybe I should have stayed silent, IDK.  Necro is right to say that this guy is not breaking rules.  So whatevs, I guess.  /shrug

what you meant to say is that the goverrats hijacked your account, and you will never apologize for the goverrats. :lol

(P.s. tThis is another drunk post]
Ha ha! This! The Goverrats will never die!

I would be happy to give a discount to any pcenginefx  forum member that wins the auction, and 10% sounds fair to me!

Lochlan, man, I'm sorry for anything I have said that has gotten you riled up. I can only describe what I have for sale based on my own personal knowledge and experience in owning many of these and other systems over the past 30+ years.

Saying that the system is "beat up" is somewhat of a harsh assumption, considering it only has light scratches along the top of the cd rom unit, and flawless otherwise (except for the scratch under the cd attachment, which I also stated). When I opened the cd rom to replace the gear, I noticed there was no dust on or in it, marks on the board, capacitors needing to be replaced, or any of what I would expect from a well worn system. The previous owner before me had obviously kept it well stored and out of any elements from what I could tell. The turbografx 16 in this auction doesnt have a single scratch on it, and still even has the factory clear sticker over the logo with no bubbling in it whatsoever. The cd rom attachment only has the scratch on the underside of it, and is otherwise flawless from what I could see. This setup was from my personal collection, which I am only selling because I have the pc engine version with super system card, cd rom2, and turbo everdrive. Therefore I dont need this one, and it was just sitting on my shelf along with the rest of my collection. It didnt come from some yard sale find or thrift store. It really is a nice system, and I would rather it go to a good home for a collector who could enjoy it.

Typically what I had to do when I gave someone a discount is have them pay as normal and then after the fact just issue a partial refund or just gift send some money back.

Kudos for offering a forum discount man.

What would a system like that be worth then?  $260 or so?

Love the PCFX community! Not the discount, but the meaningless bumps with hate posts followed by apologies. What better way to get views for your items being sold...I would have skipped this whole discussion if it was not for the two pages of back and forth.

Good luck with you sale.

being rude is not disallowed.

If you're going to post in the FS forum with a link to an eBay item you're trying to get more exposure to, please change the post to "Item auction on ebay".  It's not in the rules, but it's common courtesy.

If he did that, people wouldn't bother looking.

maybe, but if he had it at a buy it now at a certain price but would give a lower price to pcefx members, or just sell it here instead, that would have been cool. Plus you aint gotta worry about fees here :)
