Audio hum...
« on: November 19, 2014, 06:22:40 AM »
Hello guys, wondering if this is normal or something about to die haha, i have my TG16 all hooked up together with the cd dock and player. Running system card 2.0 until i get a 3.0 card in 3 days from online :-P .  When i play audio cds, or when i am sitting at the screen where it says "press run button" ,everything is fine. The system will play games fine too, but there is a low audio hum in the background. Reminds me of the old 60hz hum from my genesis but not as prominent its rather quiet but its there. Was this normal? Or does something need to be adjusted. This is only for games it seems as audio cds through the unit pkay normally without any audio hum.

To expand a little, more, its on the gane splash lake. Its the only cd game i can play without the super cd card im waiting for. I do NOT use cdrs. All audio and game cda are originals.  Any ideas? Thanks! !

have you tried different composite cables?  sounds like it might be video interference.  cheaply made or damaged cables might not be shielding the signals effectively.

A small amount of hum/buzzing at times is normal. I've never had a system that didn't generate some noises during normal operation (NES, SNES, Famicom, SFC, SMS, Genesis, Mega Drive, Tg-16, PCE, SCD, DUO).

I use composite video on CRT as well as receiver + subwoofer + speakers...I should have mentioned that.

I've had some hum when my TGCD loads discs (any disk).  I've re-capped everything, added additional grounds to the audio jacks, tried different cables... I've tried everything and the hum is still there when loading.  It doesn't make noise while playing a game or disk, just loading it.  I have given up on that quest for now and am happy the dang thing works.

Corrected due to stupid auto-correct.
