US-made games for the TG-16 don't have a great reputation, to put it nicely. To put it less than nicely, most of them stink.

Yo, Bro (that comma is right, isn't it?) may or may not be some kind of shining exception to this. But what it does have is some redeeming qualities which, so many years after its release, make it a fun little trip to play.

I hope you like the Beach Boys...(in fact, I do)

Yo, Bro can be addictive. If you become obsessed with beating it. Like I did. I NEVER BEAT IT. And this haunts me. 20+ years later and I still feel like this game whipped me.

I am going to beat this damn game. Not this week, sadly (too busy). But someday...

I thought Bucci was maybe exaggerating about the controls while watching the Turbo Views episode for the first time, but nah, he wasn't. This game  makes me upset. I want to like it, but simply can't. Maybe I should smoke drugs first. (could make it worse) *catcatcatface*

The controls suck, but you can ACCOMMODATE for this (aligning your projectiles is possible because they are always offset by the same amount) and learning to deal with the skateboard (change the controls!)

This is not a game that shines during your first few dates. You have to suffer a little, learn the mechanics, accommodate for the crappy mechanics, and then have FUN*!

I know most folks will turn it off quickly and never revisit it. I don't blame them. But, that doesn't mean Yo, Bro is completely worthless. It isn't. It just doesn't have broad appeal. It will appeal to a small bunch of folks who realize that Yo, Bro is the flawed, mentally-challenged, older cousin of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

*NOTE: "Fun" may or may not be actually attained. I honestly feel a great sense of satisfaction beating later, more challenging levels because Yo, Bro is, truly, my bete noir.

I guess the best way to explain it is...
