You just made me choke up a bit at work. The cat I grew up with was named Sandy (with a Y though!) and was an orange colored cat that I loved so much. He lived to be 19 years old until we had to put him down due to a tumor and some other compounding health problems.

Sandie is 15ish and 3 years ago, we found out she has kidney failure. We gave her special food for a year and she ended up refusing to eat it. We started feeding her Whiskas pate (cheap crap) and her numbers have actually improved. The vet was/is pleasantly surprised and credits the environment (us) for her improved quality of life.
We took in a stray pup last summer and his energy level is too much for Sandie right now. She lived with our old dog Boo for 12 years so she checks Ozzy constantly.
