You know, even though the background scrolling is janky, the rest of the game plays perfectly well. As well as any of the other renditions, anyway.

So, what say you?

I think it'd be a wasted effort considering we already have other good non scrolling versions (genesis)

But the music isn't nearly as good(Genesis). Still better than the snes audio though.

Honestly the scrolling doesn't bother me much except for in the main town. It's 10 times worse there for whatever reason. In the rest of the game it isn't as choppy. Honestly I think the main town would have been better off just having no scrolling at all than how it is.

My favourite town music is the mega drive version but when I want to get pumped I listen to the PCE intro music. So good.

I'll take not so great scrolling over the trainwreck tunes of the SNES any day.
Word.  It's my favorite Ys III next to the x68000.

Yea all graphics and gameplay mechanics aside, IMHO, TG16 and PCE ver of this game by far have the most kickass soundtrack of any other release

Genesis version has great scolling and better audio over the Snes version. But the Genesis colors just look washed out compared to the Turbo.

I mean the animated tile background layer scrolling. I don't mean ordinary level scrolling. I thought the regular side-to-side was a LITTLE less smooth than the SNES or Genny, but not significantly so, and I felt the character otherwise controlled just as well. In fact, I think I preferred the attack hit detection to the SNES version, which is the only other version I played extensively. Between the SNES and CD versions, I preferred the CD version.
