blown chip on Duo? (eBay listing)
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:16:57 PM »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/111598520733

One picture shows the motherboard and if you look at the right side chip, it looks like something was burning.  Blown chip?  Hard to fix or worth trying to buy it to fix it?

And maybe a broken leg on the chip on the left of the blown one?

I know that seller and I passed on that console. You need to see under the board as well. I have a closer phote in my email and it looks like it burnt pretty deep.

The cost of shipping makes it not worth it.

I would pass as well. the seller is a very experienced guy for fixing Retro hardware. If He can't fix it,  most of the people can't fix it

I bought a cheap duo from him and I was lucky to have the Steve help me out big time. The cxa1082 chip was bad.

Pass! He fixes these systems and sells them usually. So if he can't fix it good chance that it would be trouble and most likely not fixable without a good amount of work.

Yeah, sounds like this is something for someone like Steve to buy, fix, resell, if interested etc.
