The Magical Component Video Box

I finally watched the video on my computer (not my phone) and I'm very excited.

I prefer crts but will try this on my lcd...sooner or later :P

I liked the shout out to the other tech gurus who've made this possible!

Have you tried your Gamecube?

Yes I did and it doesn't work with GameCube.

I watched the video and it simply confirmed how this component video box is exactly what I need to experience RGB without actually modding my consoles.

This is excellent. :)

Turbokon: Years ago, you(?), or someone else here (a regular?), had an extra PCE AV Booster and incorporated the RGB mod into it. I don't remember hearing about the performance/results of this device.

Do you remember anything?

Anyway, this new magical box is so damn versatile it is ridiculous.

Any chance you could make a Game Cube Component Cable?  Maybe modify the far more common Wii Component Cable?

The US GameCube doesn't do RGB out and the component requires a special chip that is included with the cable. That is why GameCube component cables are so expensive now. The best option is to get a backwards compatible Wii and use the component cable for that. Since the Wii has all the actual GameCube hardware it is literally the same thing.

This box should also work for an rgb modded nes as well.  Got my rgb kit for my nes.

Yeah, there is discussion on replicating the functions of that chip that have been outlined on another site.  I'm just waiting for some manufacturer to start cranking them out.

The Gamecube does VGA. Are those cables also rare and expensive because of a special chip?

Update, I just built another box.  Took me a few hours just to built one, that's not including making the custom cables for the snes and genni.  So I will leave prices at $100 for the tg16/PCE only option and $25 additional for the snes and genesis model 1 cables.  Add another $10 for the CDX/nomad cables.

I still would like the "deluxe" package with everything 8)

On the duo if you replace din5 with din8, would it still work with RCA? So you can still use RCA cables, but have the option to use this box if desired?

Yes, the composite and stereo RCA cables will still work with the din8.
