I use spine cards as bookmarks.  The Sapphire spine card is marking the page in Damiano right now.

:)

As PCEFX's resident expert in PCE prices, I say the fair market price is $120 without spine, or $140 with spine.

Serious talk: Does that mean I can sell my spine card for $20?

Seriously, put it on eBay and you can probably milk collectors for much more.

As much as I would love to, I just wouldn't feel right about it.  I don't want to be part of the problem.  I frequently read the retrogaming-related subreddits on Reddit, and the sheer number of people there who want to know how much they can get for whatever game they just found, followed by replies instructing them to start off with overpriced BINs, is astounding.  And these are the people who are trying to build up collections.  It's like they don't understand that they are the reason that they are paying so much money for shit on eBay.

You could totally get $20 for the spine card.  You wouldn't be ripping anyone off, either; for someone who actually wants the spine card to "complete" their copy, that would be (by far) the cheapest way they could get one.

Mine was $81 shipped.  Seller listed as not including spine, but it was behind the tray.   This was in 2012.

I balked at paying $70 ($80.50 total) plus tax from a local store back in 1995 and opted for an HK silver for $5 instead.... I ended up paying roughly the same price in 2012...

This is 100% the problem in my opinion too.  Professional resellers are lame, but what has driven the prices up so high are people that buy a bundle of shit at a garage thrift sale, then try and sell it back at the highest price the market will bear so they can recoup cost and/or make cash to dump into buying more collection items.

News flash dumbasses, if everyone keeps raising the prices to get the "top dollar" amount, prices go up in general and everyone suffers.

Hehe.  Oh well.  At least you've been playing the game since 95.  Better than not playing it at all.  I was lucky and got it for xmas in 93.  I'm sure it was $70 as well.  I think my bro had my parents get it from Die Hard Gamers Club.  I believe it was Game Cave by then.

How much does Dracula X go for these days? I have the opportunity to buy it for $130 US - is this a good price? Thanks!

seems like you in Hong Kong, US$130 ( HK$1000) is a bit pricey for castlevania, in the shops, I have seen it as low as HK$800 in shop with spine card some time ago, however, most gamers in hong kong use a facebook group to avoid a lot of the expensive stores, I have seen it as low as HK$600 without spine card

if you use the commonly used online auctions in HK, avoid the rip off seller with hundreds of listings and no bids, the gamers avoid this seller like the plague due to stupid prices

Yep, indeed I'm in HK. $1000 is the cheapest I've been quoted from a store. The guy said he doesn't have any copies of it yet and needs to "order it from Japan" first. My friend in Japan did a price check and the cost was $120 US.

Facebook groups, huh? Any chance of a link? :)
