NINJA GAIDEN PC Engine?
« on: July 18, 2006, 01:14:31 PM »
Okay, so I have this totally sweet game for my Turbo complete, but I have to ask, did any of the other Ninja Gaiden games release for the PC Engine? I'm not sure if they did. I will go searching if they did though as I still believe that the PC Engine version of this game was just amazing!

No offense, but have you played the NES version?

The PCE version sucks in comparison-  Only thing it has on the original is a better color palette.  It's not an awful game, but side by side with the original it is.

I've been looking into the trilogy for SNES, but don't have a single Ninja Gaiden in the collection.  Any reason to buy the originals over the trilogy?
What a horrible night to have a curse...

I will say this, STAY AWAY FROM THE TRILOGY, it sucks ass! Their little "Updates" to the games were aweful as the controls just fell off making the game a twitchy piece of crap. The original NES versions arer a better bet for the original Trilogy, not that SNES piece of crap. Notice how rare it is? Because no one wanted it when it released as it sucked badly! I hate to say it because it should have been awesome, it wasn't unfortunantly!

Damn right, they f*cked up Ninja Gaiden 3 on the SNES Trilogy too.

They took out my favorite tune from the NES, the real Act 3-2/6-1 music.

Well, that being said, I really did like the NES versions of the games and I really did appreciate the PC Engine version of the original as it is the same damn game, just with a fuller color pallette, which is cool, at least the controls weren't all messed up like the SNES version! Still makes me want to puke!

Actually... the SNES Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is a decent game to own, just don't pay too much for it. The real faults of it are the inferior music, and lacks of certain special effects (like parallaxing backgrounds). The color is deeper and things look a bit more detailed, but with the lack of certain effects, it's lost. The PCE version of NG1 is decent. Poor parallax effect, inferior tunes. Graphics however were pretty nice. My main complaints against the PCE version are: 1. Spinning swords doesn't work against bosses like it is supposed to. 2. Music isn't as catchy and fitting as the NES version. 3. Strange script differences. 4. Lack of certain effects from the NES.

Anyways, I highly recommend buying the 3 NES cartridges. Nothing is better. They are the ultimate versions, and no superior version is available nor will ever be. However if you have a PCE NG1, don't count it out. I'd love to aqquire it someday, just that it's rather pricey.

I'd settle for just the HuCard! ='( Infact I'd like any HuCards. I have 2, the ACD DUO and SF2CE. Unfortunately japanese/PCE HuCards aren't that cheap to obtain.

Airmail shipping from Japan is like $5 and takes 2 - 3 days to arrive here in Canada.

There are hundreds of PC Engine HuCards available on eBay for $1 - $5, including lots of hits. If you're a real big spender, some other great titles can be had for as much as $10 each.

Look up Asemasterautotechnician on ebay. He sells the Japanese Hu Cards for very good prices. I have dealt with him on several occasions, and although he is a little bizarre, he is a stand up guy and takes care of his customers. And no, I am not talking about the registration card, as that came with it as well, but Ninja Gaiden came with a Spine Card as well. I bought it brand new.

I own and beat all 3 NES Ninja Gaidens and the PCE one.

Technically I didn't pay much for my PCE Ninja Gaiden, something still had to give. I got mine from Ebay user 16-bit/Mad Gear LLC (I bought it from the guy IN person at Magfest 5) I had to give up one of my best Super Famicom games for the credit. Of course it hurt badly in the initial moment but it was worth it.

DUDE! You have to tell us who 16-bit is! A 40+ year old nerd? A twenty-something lucky bastard who makes lots of cash on ebay? If he has any children, I've significantly contributed to their college fund, I'll tell you that. :)
