I prefer the neon orange and black of the US Turbo. Reminds of the late 80s when neon orange, pink, and green was cool along with Vision Street Wear and neon colored Ray=Bans, lol.

Exactly. I love that the flourescent colors were part of the logo/branding.

MSX is for hillbillies.

Fixed that. :)

Remind me again about the controller...did they change the mold to get rid of the "-16" on the pad?

YES, I AM TOO LAZY TO LOOK IT UP.

Plus, it is a valid point of discussion. WE SHALL NOT JUDGE CONSOLE ALONE (plus, your pic doesn't include the back cover! Holy crap, that is not fair to the poor TG-16...it was never intended to be naked like that! Poor little nub sticking out in the icy, rainy weather over there).

I am going to have to go with a no.

I don't really like the looks of the cartridge only TG-16 units. My heart is on the US Duo. Black and grey controllers, low profile sleek setup. I mean, it's a race car with a flip top hood that takes optical and HuCard fuel.

I am partial to the Orange and Yellow the US release went for nostalgic reasons beyond just the system and marketing for it. I really think those colors represent the era, I am pretty sure all of my clothing had one of those two colors at all times, just like my trapper keeper. As far as the color of the system itself, it went better with the cool kid consoles. The master system and genesis tude bled onto the turbo for me at the time. Those grey consoles were conformists, the black ones were the rebels. It carried over for the Saturn and PS1 for me too :P

They are both sleek NEC design. Just vary in colors. If US would have gotten the red, white and blue like they should have, and if Europe got the yellow orange and black, then the people here would have wanted the European versions, while people in Europe would have liked the US versions. This is all about liking what you can't have. Nowadays we can have both, and I prefer the US version because the color scheme is more wild and how can you ever go wrong with black?

I agree that black console + TG-16 colors = superior to EuroGrafx.

And, I concur that part of the appeal of EuroGrafx, for me, is that I am much less familiar with it :)

I am very grateful that North America did not get a red-white/gray-blue themed color scheme, though. The EuroGrafx logo is so bland compared to the garish fluorescence of TG-16's logo.

I wonder why they never made a black PC Engine (not counting the Duo).  That would have looked sweet.

They knew that only North Americans could handle it.

Nobody could handle a CoreGrafx in black. Only SophistiGray.

Don't like the PalGrafx.  I have to admit I was tempted to pick one up when thesteve modded it.. but it is too ugly.  Reminds me of the pirate Famicom on a chip systems that were packed in PS1 cases 15 years ago...
