Which dumbf*ck included all these non-related random anime pictures into the video, instead of using screenshots from the actual game?

I was trying to find my old write-up on the entire Lady Phantom soundtrack:

http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=3392.msg48240#msg48240

...but the link doesn't work? Does anybody know if the old thread truly was deleted, or if the topic #'s changed when the forum software changed?

Anyway, I never fully figured out the combat system in Lady Phantom when I played it... in 2007, apparently. 30-35 minutes into the game before I was stuck.

^ dude, rip the songs. Or, if you scan the manual, I guess I'll go ahead and rip the tunes.

Thanks for explaining the mechanics, I gotta see if I can make better sense of it now. :)

This is a great game.  I wonder how different the script is from the pc-98 version I have.  It's been a loooooooooooong time since I've played through the pc-e version.

Dude, you should download the complete PCE/Turbo CD iso torrent. I just listen to tracks from those files instead of digging out my games to rip.

But what quality are the mp3's in? I have problems. I don't mind slightly larger files to help future-proof.

Also, I don't think I have enough room on my drives for even a fraction of ISO torrent. How massive is that thing? My poor 11 year old laptop and ancient external hard drive will have an aneurism. :)

Underrated game.  it wasn't too hard to figure out the menus.  The hardest stage in my opinion is where you need to escort the three ships across the map (stage 3  or 4?).  The cpu controls them and they make a bee line to the other side of the map, regardless what enemies are in the way.  If all three get destroyed, its game over.  I ended up placing my characters in front of the ships so they can't run out in front.

Really would like to hear the story of whats going on in the game.  Can anyone write up a Cliff's Notes summary of the game?

I would never download a game that uses MP3 as the sound files. No reason to compress them. What is this, 1997? Leave 'em as WAVs, man. Don't mess with 'em. We have fast internet now. We have hard drives bigger than 2GB now.

This thread is awesome, and  is another reason why I am so glad I started paying attention to the communities around the things I've enjoyed for so long. Hearing discussion about optimal audio compression in regards to reproducing a 'quality' sound warms my heart, and makes me incredibly envious of the pallet some are able to enjoy. I have some hardcore audiophile friends, and other friends with amazing artistic eyes, and their discussions about the quality degradation between formats always enthralls me. Threads like this make me realize how wrong I've done this so far. At times I feel like a guy who brought a box of wine to the tasting, but at least I'll know a bit more going forward. That being said, is there no gameplay video of this game available? It sounds so interesting, but I am having a hard time picturing it.

I'm glad Joe made the point about mp3 to wave format choice when ripping music from a cd game. It can always be downgraded for mp3 if needing to fit on a specific device, but it's probably best to create individual files at the highest quality possible. You can always downgrade a high quality file, it's a lot harder to upgrade :)

Honestly, what`s the difference between formats Joe? Besides file size it's impossible to tell.

It might be impossible for you to hear a difference, but it's definitely there.

I think Joe would rather like to encode the MP3s (or whatever format) from an uncompressed source by himself, than having somebody else done that.

At least this is what I prefer when I've got the choice between ripping tracks from an original CD or going for some downloads. At least I know then that I have done it the proper way in the bit rate I want and the format of my choice.

I don't give a f*ck about audiophiles, those who call themselves that way are victims for snake oil marketing and stupid believers in golden ears. Audiophile is a swear word, and they have nothing in common with people that do professional audio production and studied physics.

Cool looking game,  I just picked up a copy of neo nectaris this week.  I may have to try this one next.
