My Boxed Duo Tap FS? No. FT? No. For Nostalgia? Sure!
« on: May 07, 2015, 06:11:10 AM »
I've had my boxed Duo Tap for awhile in hopes that I would one day run into someone who I could play Turbo games with. So far, I've run into countless people who eagerly play Candy Crush and Farm Heroes (the happy, little sun is just TOO cute).

Dawwwww.....

At any rate, I've come to the conclusion that my Duo Tap would be better in capable hands; hands that are attached to the bodies of people who have friends that would play PCE/Turbo Duo games with them. But instead of initially selling it here, I was hoping to offer it as an incentive to help me locate something.

I loved Nestle Quik growing up; hell, I still drink NesQuik to this day. I wish it still came in those metal containers with the lid you had to pry open with a spoon handle. I drank the chocolate and strawberry Quik with equal consistency because they not only tasted so good, but because Nestlé's marketing team put some pretty effective TV ads.

This is the 'Quik Land' commercial for Chocolate Quik.

As a kid, chocolate 'Quik Land' would be several degrees of sweet, sugary kickass. As an adult, floating around in brown milk would just raise questions.

Now for the 'Quik Land' commercial for Strawberry Quik...

...

And there lies the predicament I'm in; I simply can't find it. I know the Strawberry Quik Land ad exists because it came on regularly alongside the Chocolate version. I remember seeing it quite frequently during commercial breaks for Eureeka's Castle.

Gosh, I f*ckin' miss old Nickelodeon.

Brass tacks; you help me find Strawberry Quik Land's ad, you get a boxed Duo Tap in the mail. ***The only money you pay is for the shipping.*** Simple.

Quid pro quo. Yes or No?

My past-life would've surely led to our demise, and I had left it not a moment too soon. Our escape, though dangerous, had gone well. The train ride, sunlight, and passing snow-covered pine trees came together in a flickering show of our bright, new future together. Her head rested on my shoulder as she soundly slept to the gentle rocking of the passenger car. We felt freedom. We felt peace.

I'd love to buy your Duo Tap, been wanting one for a while now (plus at least 1 extra controller).  However, I can't help you with the Strawberry Quik ad.  I *can* tell you a funny story about Strawberry Quik.

When I was 11 or so, I stayed at my cousin's house overnight.  We had Strawberry Quik for breakfast and went riding bikes.  I had to ride my older cousin's bike since I didn't have my own.  I had a hard time riding it since it was too big for me, lost control and fell over the handlebars.  Hit my head on the street and had a concussion.

My aunt called my mom who rushed over and took me to the hospital.  All the while I'm throwing up Strawberry Quik everywhere.  I only barely remember any of this, but my mom later reminded me that she was covered in pink Strawberry Quik puke and had to ride in the hospital elevator with other people who stood as far away from her as someone can when stuck in an elevator.  Yuk!

That was the last time I ever drank Strawberry Quik.  I'm glad your memories of it are a bit nicer than mine!

I've puked up a lot of good stuff, and it didn't keep me from eating it. I remember seeing a bologna and cheese sandwich with a glass of Sharkleberry Fin Kool-Aid twice in one day. The first time was fine since I was eating it. The second time was on my Etonic sneakers after partial digestion. Getting it off the shoe laces was a challenge.

Ha! I only liked chocolate/strawberry milk for a brief period of time (a year?, if that).

I MUCH PREFERRED taking  spoonfuls of cocoa powder, straight from the giant container.   I was a cocoa junkie.

NOTE: I fully endorse your quest for StrawberryQuickland.

Oh man, that was great! Remember that segment on Sesame Street with the song that counted up to the number 12? That's the vibe I'm getting from that one.  :D

Edit: I misunderstood you  :P You are in search of the ad. Can't be of help, then!

Aren't both strawberry and banana tastes available on any UK supermarket, or am I missing something here? :P

Last time I went to UK on holidays I brought both home ;-)

Hello,
I am writing to seek help as a friend has challenged me to find a beloved strawberry quik land TV spot from the early 90s. The original is on YouTube but the strawberry version is not and would ask if it possible to view it anywhere. I do not want to post it on any site such as YouTube just to win a small quest by a friend to relive a long ago memory.  Thanks and just so you know he supports you almost every day with a glass....

Yeah, it is possible that the advertisement has not been tagged independently, but is included on YouTube as part of a show/block of commercials.

If you asked a forum of TV lovers about this ad, I wonder if folks would recall the commercial?

Like I said earlier, I love Quixotic Quests, so you better pull out those old tapes!
