« on: June 01, 2015, 09:52:49 PM »
Hello, i don't see anything about pc-fx repair in this thread so i write here.
My pc-fx have a problem, it has very used in the time.
Some games videos jump and sometimes it not loads properly. Is it the laser or can be adjusted in some way with calibration? Thank you!

I'd like to know, too. My "bargain" PC-FX seems to have the same problem.

I found this ...

NEC PC-FX Laser Pickup Replacement
http://retrostuff.org/tag/pc-fx/

And this ...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-PCFX-console-Origianl-CD-Optical-Laser-Lens-New-in-box-/111665512488

But I haven't done it, yet.

So you just replaced the lasers (like the guy did in that guide), and they both worked again?

Any special tips?

It was super simple, just had to transfer everything from old to new laser, worked first try

I've seen a few lasers go bad on them.  Even more rarely I've seen capacitors fail and cause audio issues.  But yeah swap that laser and go!

The replacement laser is HOP-E1 as stated in above link. I bought few lasers before from china supplier ( look like they are original and work like a charm ) -- It cost must less than the one in ebay, only around USD 10 + shipping
