So, I guess Joe needs to make a distinction between demo discs and how they were distributed to/accessed by the public...because folks today have a very distinct idea of "demo disc"...even though it has multiple meanings and contexts over time...
Kiosk demo discs are fine. And in my opinion quite interesting. I'll look for an ISO of this Air Zonk disc. That's pretty damn awesome.
I like the fact that you will explain how the concept of "demo disc" is multifaceted and has evolved over the years.
I asked this question long ago, but nobody has been able to answer it:
(1) Was PCE first console to have demo/sample CD? I think so.
(2) Were there ever demo/sample carts? Maybe not for general public, but retailers?
(3) For PC world...what counts as the first demo/sampler? Should we focus only on commercial software? Obviously, demo diskettes/cassettes probably existed long before consoles...but what were the first ones?
(4) Did Famicom Disk System have demo?
