Gonna take the kids to see it.

I don't think his career will be affected by the movie.

Yeah you are probably right.. Could be worse, could be Pauly Shore or Carrot Top.

If Jack and Jill didn't break Sandler, nothing will. Shit, people were saying that about Little Nicky, too. An unstoppable shit machine ever since, but he's rolling in the dough.

The part in Little Nicky where he played the Chicago album backwards is freaking classic, at least to me.

He signed a deal with Netflix to do four movies for them, which sounds like a bit of a pay cut from doing normal movies.

I hope it winds up on the higher quality level of Adam Sandler movies (I know, I know, but they're not ALL that bad!)... I think I'll head out to the theaters for this also. I went for the new Terminator movie (I ignored the bad reviews at they came in) though I was pretty disappointed (still happy to have supported the franchise I guess). I think the last time I went out to a theater before that was for Avatar, not sure, but anyway, I hope I'll have better luck with this one if I do go.

From what I have seen most Netflix made shows/movies seem to be better than a lot of the stuff in theaters or main stream tv. imo

True, but I was talking money.  Even if his last movie 'only' made $50m in theaters, that's $50m that they'll never get.  I can't see them getting $50m worth of new subscribers that sign up just for his movies, though I'm sure they'll be popular to existing subscribers.

I haven't enjoyed an Adam Sandler movie since Happy Gilmore, although that's not really why Pixels doesn't appeal to me.  I mean, c'mon, they're trying to take a concept from a Futurama segment, that even some of the funniest writers in television felt only worked in the context of a 10-minute short, and extend it into a full length feature?  Really?!

If you don't have a good frame story and interesting characters built around the gimmick, like Scott Pilgrim did for example, it's just not going to work well over an hour and a half to two hour run time.  There's no guarantee that they haven't written genuinely interestIng characters, but... well, I'm not enthusiastic about its chances.

I'll probably catch it on Netflix someday just to confirm whether my suspicions were true or not.  The involvement of Chris Columbus and Peter Dinklage make it hard to completely turn a blind eye.

Have you seen his movies in the past 10-12 years. If a bad movie would break him it would have happened a long, long time ago.

No, I think the last one I tried to watch was that You don't mess with the Zohan. Or was it Grownups? Either way, didn't like them none.

Sorta only vaguely related, but because of a promotion for that movie they brought Steve Weibe out to a big tourist mall to play Donkey Kong. It was pretty cool to see him play live. They also had some cabs set up with DK and some other retro games for people to play.

Heh-heh. I'm thinking of Jack and Jill for this... ;) I really like That's My Boy and that was cool of him I guess to throw Vanilla Ice in there for jokes who normally doesn't belong in a movie, but it worked for what it was.
