Someone willing to translate Gulliver Boy ?

Hey guies !

I've been thinking of translating Gulliver Boy one day. I've worked on a few PCE translation projects (DOTB 1&2 -in French-, which is still to be released, Shada, etc.)

Up till now, I've always answered some requests from devs who had already been working on the extraction of the scripts.

Now, as I have less and less time to work on such projects, I'd like to translate a game that I love so much that I want all non-japanese readers to be able to enjoy this game.

So I'd like to know if there's a dev out there willing to extract the script of this wonderful game, so that I can translate it ?

Video codec has been cracked, so you can easily subtitle this game.

I see, this HuVideo codec you mean ? I also see that while it's a Super CD, it will take advantage of an Arcade system card if present. Looks like it's a fairly top notch traditional turn-based RPG, but is the quality up there with Legend of Xanadu II or Anearth Fantasy Stories ?? I've never heard much about this game.

It reminds me of a very colorful Lunar. Not a bad game, just really easy.

Gulliver Boy is one of the most beautiful PCE RPG's. The story is cool too. It's not the longuest nor the most difficult one but it's still very attractive and enjoyable.

Musica are great.

It's one of my favourites.

I've no skills to lend to a translation, but it sure would be a sweet game to have translated.

I would love to see this done.   I bought the game almost 20 years ago and never was able to make it very far....

It has some of the nicest visuals found in 16-bit RPGs. The bosses in particular, you won't find anything like them in SFC games. Battles have voice effects and "Mode 7" stuff. On top of the in-game voice acting with portraits and some elaborate character sprite theatrics, their is the high quality (100+ colors) rock solid TV/OVA framerate fmv cinemas.

But the most important part is that it's just really fun.

There's cool random stuff mixed in as well, like an Ys-style mecha battle segment.

If I can help at all I would love to be a part of this. I don't have any translation skills but I am learning the pipeline for creating sprites on the system, so I would be able to help with iconography, minor UI, and font generation. Sounds like an awesome game, I've yet to check it out but action roleplaying games are easily my favorite genre growing up.

Ditto. Someone on here wrote a review of this game not too long ago. I bought a copy awhile back but haven't had time to play around with it. Playing around with it in English would be even better :)

I need to finish this game... I always get stuck and forgot how to get where I need to and then get sidetraced away from it.

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

Yeah, it does look like it should've gotten attention by now. I wonder if EsperKnight had it on his "to-hack" list. I already have Emerald Dragon on my plate with SamIAm, but this would be a nice one to tackle some day. I would need help on the likely LZSS text codec, unless it's close to the same version used in Ys IV and Emerald Dragon (they're the same for those 2, except for one line of code pretty much, and compressed text blocks differ by a 3 byte header). Of course there's also the question of preexisting single-byte English 8x12 or 8x16 font support. Ys IV and ED had enough support where you don't need an expert font hack such as what only few masters are capable of like Bonknuts and EsperKnight.
