All the arcade machines are gone!!
« on: September 13, 2015, 10:20:40 AM »
So my lovely girlfriend and I are down in Ocean City, MD for a little vacation (apologies for not posting with my usual fervor for the next week or so.)  I've been coming here all my life and have some really fond memories of playing arcade games on the boardwalk.  So... we went there today, and every one of them has replaced the classics with ticket redemption games!!  Last time I was here they were still the ones from my childhood.  I'm sure the cost/profit ratio from running those wasn't great, similar to the barcade woes discussed elsewhere on this forum.  They gotta turn a buck, but it still saddens me.  Coolest thing I saw was a Jersey Jack Wizard of Oz, but I didn't get a chance to play yet.

The Jersey Jack Wizard of Oz Pinball is a nice machine for sure. But it's unfortunate that the arcade games are gone.

I went to Wisconsin Dells Wisconsin a few years back and there are a handful of small arcades along the downtown tourist trap strip. Over the years it's switched to almost entirely redemption games there too.

That sucks, but its the same at Myrtle beach. I'm surprised it hasn't happened before now.

This ain't no Mr. Rodgers neighborhood!
