My Blazing Lazers Turbochip is disgusting
« on: September 14, 2015, 02:39:23 PM »
Hey guys, I bought Blazing Lazers the other week and the card inside looks like it has been smoking a pack a day since 1989. The backside of the card looks white and perfectly fine, it's just the front that looks all brown and gross. Any tips on how to clean a card like this? I'd like to get the edges looking white again but don't want to damage the card or potentially remove the artwork. Here's a NSFW pic with a perfectly fine Darkwing Duck beside for a sense of how discolored it is:

Use 40 Vol hair product on it. Just like how I re-whiten old consoles. I've done it to Supersystem cards before without any ill effects. Might not make it perfectly white but will definitely improve it.

Thanks for the tip. Does it matter what brand or type? Google turns up just a generic cream...do you just lather a bit of it on the entirety of the card? How long do you wait? Will it bleach the parts with printing/color/text? Just want to make sure I do it right the first time so I don't R.I.P. my Lazers card.

And the Hamilton analogy is apt, Monkey, although only one side is tanned so it is probably more like Ross from Friends with his horrible one sided spray tan.

I get mine at sally beauty supply. http://www.sallybeauty.com/creme-developer/SLNCAR63,default,pd.html Be very careful to not get any on the black chip part. It doesn't discolor it or anything. Just best not to in order to avoid doing any damage to the game. I have not hurt a game yet doing this so chances are good it will be fine afterwards. I apply it with a paint brush. A very very thin layer will do so you will not need much at all. Meaning so thin it almost appears clear. The stuff goes on pretty clear like unless you goop it on there. One good solid day out in the sun from morning till late afternoon with this on it will make the card look much much better. Just be patient and let it sit out all day. Then wipe off with a damp rag. I generally rinse consoles more thoroughly afterwards but best not to get the game card soaking wet.

No need to worry about the blue or text getting ruined especially if you only do this once. It's only after I've done this 3 or more times that some colors besides white start being affected slightly. So I would suggest only doing this once.

A safer option is to apply a thick layer of white cream cheese frosting to HuCARD. Use a spatula to smooth out any bumps.

UPDATE: I noticed a handful of ants attempting to carry-off my HuCARD as the frosting was setting. WATCH OUT FOR SNEAKY ANTS.

Flip it on the bay. Those special colored editions are super rare. Slab and grade it to preserve its freshness.
