WTB: Basically Anything Ys Related

I have the Japanese versions of I, II, III, and IV for my Duo-R, the US version of VI on the PS2, Memories of Celceta, and a whole mess of download releases from Steam and PSN; but I'm interested in basically any other Ys stuff if it's priced reasonably:  MSX, Famicom, Super Famicom, PSP titles; even the Taito remakes of III, IV, and V.  I also may be interested in other related products like light novels, anime dvds, etc...

If you have doubles of something, or just want to unload a title you're not fond of (Mask of the Sun / Taito remakes maybe?), then let me know.  I can't afford to pay a lot, but if you happen to have nice boxed special editions of something I'll probably find a way to scrounge up some cash.  Honestly, I'll probably pass on most loose copies of cartridges unless they're pretty cheap (below $10).

Next time I'm at my dad's house I'll see if we still have the laserdisc of the Ys anime, though if we do I might still keep it for myself lol!

Ooh!  Laserdiscs!  I love LDs, but I'd probably have to pass unless you had a full set.  Also, I wouldn't feel good unless I gave you what they're worth; and with how rare some things are becoming it might be out of my price range.

@NightWolve:  Heh.  Yeah, I didn't figure you'd be one of the ones willing to part with anything.   Honestly, I basically figured I'd be hard pressed to get ANYBODY to give up anything, but decided, "Eh, what the heck.  It can't hurt to ask."

I don't mind paying E-Bay prices on some stuff if it's reasonable, but a lot of things just get ridiculously overblown.  I should mention that I'd also be willing to buy certain manuals or boxes separately if anybody has extras.

LD are also expensive to repair.  If you can't fix it, it's f*cking heavy to ship it anywhere.  If you can fix it, the spindle is usually f*cking expensive on its own.

Since LD wasn't grandfathered into any modern system, you are pretty limited to vintage players and vintage spare parts.  Unlike CD and DVD (on some players, even VCD) which works in BD player on account the big cheese decided to keep the same physical disc side and hole size.

Yeah, I actually have a penchant for collecting Trigun memorabilia, and back in 2004 I stumbled upon the two laserdisc box sets while I was an exchange student.  Unfortunately, before I left Japan I ended up selling them off, as shipping them was going to be ridiculously expensive and I couldn't even find a decent laserdisc player.  The last time I saw one of the two boxes complete it was $600 on E-Bay... *sob*  I have an LD player now, but just a handful of discs for it that I, sadly, never watch anymore.

The only LD player I have now is the Laseractive. I'll tell you a story on how my father got his laserdisc player. Since these things were ongodly expensive (this would be around the late 70 early 80s) he ended up purchasing one through a now defunct department store called Fredicks and Nelsons in Seattle. The only reason why he could afford it at the time was that the discount he got from when my ma was working there (something like 40% off). I believe it was a Magnavox player (as it was a top loader), but I'm not too sure as I haven't seen it in like 20+ years. I'm hoping when I go over there to help him clean out the old farm house we'll find the damn thing and hopefully in working order. Another tidbit (you guys will get a kick out of this) he used to rent laserdiscs and copy them to betamax. I hope to find those in working order too, lots of good memories on dem devices. I just hope the mice didn't get into them. My apologies for hijackinng this thread.

This is so true, and the difficulty of finding them in working order is one reason I normally nab them locally whenever I find them if they're cheap.  But the players and the LDs do take up a ton of space.

There's a good chance he still has a top loader and a super betamax. I believe the super betamax has svideo too.  I'm not sure if they are in running order, but if they are I'll sell one to you for a good price! Probably have some old cartoons and movies from back in the 80s too.. And a very good chance some old anime too!

Hmm... that's an interesting proposal.  If the price is right, it might be a fun thing to play around with.  Honestly, I have to wonder if I'd spend more than a day or two tinkering with it...

According to my old man, they both are in working order. He just stopped using them back in the early 90s due to VHS being cheaper and difficulty finding beta tapes (rentals and blanks). I do recall him getting to the point where he had to order them through JR&R catalog, but by then vhs had already taken over..
