Horror Month!
« on: October 13, 2015, 02:51:44 AM »
A little late but better then November.

For the month of spooky trickster nights to come lets sound off with everything holloween.

Let's talk about games, movies, TV shows, anime, comics, costumes, and treats that embody holloween fright and spooky fun. Be them horror, scary suspense, or whimsical.

I'll start off.

Looking forward to play:

Gremlins 2 (NES)
Corpse Party Blood Drive (VITA) being delivered today
Splatter house (PS3)

Watching:
Goonies
Corpse party tourtored Souls
Aline (35th anniversary)
Garfield Halloween special
Some real ghost busters TV show
Ahh real monsters

Comic
Creep show (looking for the old hard kind comic)
Reprinted Tales of horror and such from EC comics
Man Hattan Projects (image)
Walking Dead (got slot to catch up on since issue 125)

Costume.

Still hunting but the wife will be a monster lol and our son will be a baby vampire lol

Dogs have yet to get costumes. Maybe they will behave for once lol

Treats

Wife and I are excited to be in a house where we can give out candy. Hope it's more fun then when we would live in an apartment.

Will get bags of candy later but looking for something. Fun to make at the house. Maybe something with popcorn and brownies ? While we watch movies and such?

The house will go in decorated this year but I plan on stocking up when everything goes for 60% off the day after Halloween for the next year.

Pumpkins

Plan on buying some this week. Will post pics later of our jack o lanterns.

About it for now.

My kiddo is going to be Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street, this was her first year to choose a costume since previous years she was too little to make any decisions. First year since she was bald we dressed her up like Captain Picard, the next year I put together a Wind Waker Link costume for her that turned out pretty well.

Not sure if I'll dress up this year, I did cosplay at anime conventions for a long time so I'm a bit burned out now.
Gredler: spread her legs and push her down to make her more lively
***
majors: You used to be the great man, this icon we all looked up to and now your just a pico collecting 'tard...oh, how the mighty have fallen...
***
_joshuaTurbo: Sex, Lies, Rape and Arkhan. A TurboGrafx love story

This has always been my favorite month too. My birthday month, autumn weather finally in full effect which I love, apples taste better than any other time of the year, Halloween of course, and possibly some good horror movies are released - and if not, I'll definitely watch some old ones to make up for it! I have not been well, sadly, during the best month of the year - but I hope it clears up soon, because I have some plans to go see Crimson Peak with some friends (huge Del Toro fan), and later on this month we're going to headless horseman in NY to do one of the escape rooms. We have a 1 year old pug, who we are thinking about dressing up, but haven't decided on a costume. No furless children though.

What? No love for Hocus Pocus??

OK it's not scary compared to some real horror movies but it is still great Halloween movie. Also planning some moldy old classics like It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and The Nightmare Before Christmas (which I feel is more Halloween-y than Christmas-y)

As for costume, probably a nudist. I live out in the farm and haven't had anyone come to my house trick-n-treating for oh about 20 years so I can get away going naked all day.

Looking forward to play:

Splatterhouse on the Marty

Watching:

I look forward to watching as many "one star" rated horror movies as possible on Netflix. Looks like I have quite a selection to choose from.

Costume.

Splatterhouse Mask.

Still trying to find a dog costume. I have a chunky Pug and nothing seems to fit right.

Treats

All the smarties, sweet tarts and other "cheap-ass" halloween treats that I can stand to eat. Candy Corn 4 lyfe.

I watched Hocus Pocus in the past year with my daughter and I really like the damn movie. It wasn't what I expected.

Needless to say, I was happily surprised.

We've been celebrating the season by watching Beeltejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Quick and the Dead (not horror, but it's most definitely a Sam Raimi film). As we get closer I'm sure some zombie flicks will make their way to our TVs. Probably Shaun of the Dead, at least one of the Evil Dead films and Dawn of the Dead.

Gamewise, it's all about Devil's Crush, Splatterhouse and Rondo. I did just pick up Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the PS2 but that old control style has not aged well and I'm all thumbs playing it. It's funny, I loved the first 2 Resident Evil games back when they came out.
