English Translation of Snatcher for the PC Engine CD...  Does it exist?

Also I know the Sega CD version uses a light gun for some parts.  How does the PC Engine version handle these parts?

TIA

I don't think there is an English translation for the PC-Engine version.

I would assume it works like the Sega CD does without a gun where you move with the d pad into the quadrant you want to shoot.

There is a guy on youtube who did a playthough of both the Sega CD and PCE ones. He basically chooses the same options in the same order on each version. I have started to use his two vids as a ware of matching up option scenes so I know what is what. Each video is a bit over 4 hrs, and I am like 20 mins in, so I have a long way to go. As I do it I am printing the stuff off so I have a guide of sorts on paper to use for the PCE release.

Damn that is A LOT more patience than I have.

A translation for the PCE version would be really nice as I've been playing this game since a few days back now. Considering the time of year in the game, playing it during December would be fitting I thought :)

I've gotten much further into the game than I thought, but again with these kinds of adventure games they're usually so linear that save for the puzzles or quizzes (where you have to enter text manually) you can get through by just going through all options until the game continues.

If I were to guess, I'm probably just right before the end of Act 2. As for the quizzes/puzzles, the one from Napoleon over the videophone was the first one I got stuck on. The other really annoying one was the medical record in act 2 with the periodic table. Thank god for google translate's photo mode on the phone...

Though I'm proud of not having used any guides or let's plays so far, I do wish I understood more of the text and what's going on in the story. Maybe also especially it would be interesting to understand more of the historical data entries that you can read in the computer room at the Junker HQ. Maybe I'll watch a playthrough of the Sega CD version when I'm done...or try out the translated PC-88 version. Or both... :p

Call me crazy, but if this is your first time playing Snatcher and you don't know Japanese, you definitely should not be playing the PCE version.

An opinion I can respect.
I do know a little bit of Japanese :P
However I'm probably better at listening/talking than reading, since I've forgotten so many kanjis, but still know some of the words. The voiced parts of the game is nice for that reason :) Although they're a bit low in quality...

But I'm not entirely clueless on what's going on and just guessing my way through, but being able to understand more would of course be nice. But I'm too far in now to stop playing haha :D

Why not? Any idiot can beat this game in any language and if you've seen Bladerunner you pretty much get the plot.

Welp, just started act 3 but I did not expect that twist. But I guess I should because Kojima.

Seeing since I'm starting to approach the end of this game, I'm curious, how does Policenauts stack up? Is it better or worse and is it a harder game to play, gameplay wise and language wise?

Edit:
And done!

Oh yeah! It was translated, forgot all about that  8-[

Anyway, the PCE version of Snatcher was enjoyable. There was a few odd character drawings (Gilliam seemed to suffer the most, with Katherine in second place). The chip music was overall decent with a few stand out tracks and the CD music tracks were really nice. The voice acting suffered a bit from poor mixing and got drowned out by the music now and then but all in all a fun and interesting experience.

Shorter in length than I thought but it didn't outstay it's welcome either
