These types of attacks, of various sizes, will continue in Europe and all Western societies. Liberal immigration policies are to fault, but to even discuss the issue gets you labeled a xenophobic, bigoted racist.

Actually know a few French people from the PCE scene, hope they weren't anywhere near the targeted locations. This was the result of simultaneously coordinated terror attacks Al-Qaeda style at ~7 different locations, theaters, restaurants, etc. You've got over >200 dead possibly, and hundreds others who took bullets but survived from psycho maniacs running loose with AK-47s...

Sad, but true. Hard to control who or what comes in once you stop asking questions and open the floodgates. Was hard enough as is prior to do background checks on people from the Middle East. You also have radicals who actually grew up in Europe involved in this kind of stuff. Isis recruits from all over the world, not just the middle east, and they are not so picky about the race of their membership.

It really goes back to overthrowing the iron-fisted dictators in the region. It wasn't perfect, but terrorist attacks worldwide were down, and had we just stayed out of the region, they likely wouldn't have been able to do much against us. I get Kuwait, but do we really need to have permanent bases throughout the Arabian peninsula? Do we really need to get ourselves involved in every dispute there? Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, and Iraq all were safer before American and European intervention.

We need to stop playing neo-colonialist, we need to stop playing world police. The old ideas of democracy for everyone were naive. With peace to Benjamin Franklin, there is no freedom without security and stability.

Edit: With all that said, we live in the realities of today, and it's difficult to go back in time. My hearts and thoughts go out to Parisians, all French, and the Lebanese. Fortunately, those I know there are safe.

Horrible tragedy that kept getting worse and worse as the reports were more accurate throughout the day.  I hate these sorts of things and I hate religious nutjobs.  Have your religion, fine, I don't care.  Just have the common decency to not kill people because your god is different from some other guy's god.

I have no doubt that the entirety of Western civilization has members of ISIS.  Its sucks, but people gotta start being aware of what they are calling 'soft targets'(buildings or area's with lots of people & little security) no matter where we live.  Thankfully I'm not in a big city, but I am semi close.  My wife & I rarely go to any concerts or anything like that, though... I wonder if they'd target anything like Anime Expo/Comic Con/Etc? 

Besides Gillian Seed, I was trying to think of any other French Obeyers.  I think Shubibinman, Xavier, & Touko are all over there somewhere.  It looks like Touko & Shubibinman were online today, so I'll assume they're fine.

I do think as this kind of stuff continues to happen, world leaders are eventually going to get tired of religion & put a kibosh on religions in general.  Too much crap has been done in the name of God.  Plus, think of all the riches various religions have.  The Catholic Church for instance owns all types of services & buildings & such & are exempt from paying taxes on them.  A lot of religions have deep pockets, so nations could prosper financially by raiding those pockets.  I say it's just a matter of time, for better & worse.

I am pointing fingers at a religion, yes. I believe that islam is incompatible with modern secularism. And calling me ignorant is not the best way to convince me I'm wrong.
