You will usually not get hit with customs fees  - particularly with a low value item like a PCE system card...

Don't know about the USA, but Japan to Canada has been about 5-7 business days for me...

Japan to Canada by regular airmail for me is usually 2 - 3 days, while U.S. to Canada is 1 - 3 weeks.

My experience has been that US to Canada is the absolute slowest shipping route on the planet.  I get packages from most countries in the world in about a week.  US is usually minimum 12 days....  Tracked packages from the US to Canada are the worst and are usually a minimum 2 weeks.  Lettermail is the fastest, but everyone is too scared to send anything that way....

Americans rarely pay customs on anything less than $500 unless it's a "hot" industry like bootleg handbags.

I'm in the Chicago area as well and have not been hit with any custom fees on any one particular package.

With that said, I bought a lot of import video games/system stuff from Japan back in 2013 off ebay and other overseas vendors....all of the items came with a customs tag fixed to the outside of the package.  I ended up getting a letter from the state of Illinois asking me to print off my ebay and amazon.com purchase history and mail it to them.  They came up with about $300.00 in state sales taxes that I owed.  not sure if all the customs tags tipped them off or it was just from Amazon.com purchases.

All thanks to our state senator Dick Durbin, who actively pursued taxing all of our online out-of-state purchases here in Illinois.

First off never pay for EMS, it's a joke.

Anyway to echo the sentiments of others I will mention that I have never been hit with a customs fee in a great deal of orders from Japan.

SAL/Airmail and such generally takes me between 7-12 days to arrive and I am smack dab in the middle of Murica.

When I was in Germany, APO to the states was about 2 weeks.  To OIF was about a month just because mail runs became a dangerous job because of IEDs.  Thanks for the input.  I guess I will need to pull the trigger on a JPN 3.0 System card.

I've had about the same experience for times, and I'm a firm believer in SAL Small Packet if I can :)
