I'm still planning to take another shot at Hit the Ice. Last time I got all the way to the final match and had winning chances.

BTW I like the Hit the Ice "series", such as it is, since different systems got very different ports. The Genesis and TurboGrafx versions of this game both have merit -- the Genesis version looks fancier but adopts a long, eight-match structure with passwords; the Turbo version has simpler graphics but is closer to the arcade game in many ways, with fun little bells & whistles like the octopus. But the SNES version is a disaster -- it looks like a slideshow!

I'm still halfway through Tricky Kick when I started it last year.  Maybe in 2017 I'll stop playing better games, invest more time in Tricky Kick and finally finish it.

I've made it up to level 7 in R-Type now, but man is this game hard!   ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Yes!  I took down R-Type!!!

Pics to follow.

Sorry for the delay.  Holidays and such...   :-"
I beat the PC Engine version.

Finally updated today.  I double-checked everything, and yes we cleared 113 out of the possible 135, leaving 22 unbeaten in 2016.  Maybe we can beat these 22 this year?

There are only a few ways I can think of that would classify as "beating" SimEarth:

-Making the sun explode
-Causing the exodus on Venus
-Evolving robots

Soooo... a robot exodus on Venus followed by a supernova... that should do it. :D

This post is pure gold. I lol'd so hard when I read this.

The only one of the remaining games that I have is Lords of the Rising Sun, and I remember being totally confused the last time I tried playing that game. I'm not sure I will be able to make a contribution this time.
I'd be willing to take the game off your hands if you don't want it any more!

I think this thread about King of Casino counts as another clear.

http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=22030.0

-EDIT- After a dozen more failed attempts, I realized something and decided to try a VERY RISKY strategy that miraculously paid off. If any CPU opponent gets a large payout in poker, the whole thing crumbles. Luckily (this time), they never got poker payouts big enough to threaten the scheme (although one came excruciatingly close).  Here are some better looking pics of my second triumph over the other 4 CPU opponents.

-The five casinos where I won my five rounds. Some of my favorite fruit in there.  :D

-The screen where the game crowns the 'King of Casino'.

-Game developer, Victor Musical Industries, Inc. at the end of the credit roll.

-One final affirmation from the game. It felt even MORE deserved this time.

Oh, just in case anyone wants to get the $10 million without doing any of the work, here's a code for $9.999M:

I started playing Lords of the Rising Sun again last night, as Kiyomori. I killed Yoritomo pretty much right off the bat. Now I just need to start knocking off the other generals, and I'll finish that campaign.

But will that count? Or is beating all three campaigns needed to count as beating the game?

Let's coop and beat the game together, what do you say? A scenario for each.

ps: if you have the secret to killing a warlord in mounted combat please share ](*,)

I'd be willing to share the glory of beating it with someone else. (Wait, not like that)

As far as killing the generals on the horse, all it takes is patience, practice, timing, speed, and luck.

Honestly though, I generally try to be behind and to their left. Then when you get kind of close, move toward them quickly swing the sword.
There have been times I've spent 15 minutes trying to kill one, and other times I get a whole bunch of kills that way right off the bat.

Excellent, I started Yoshitsune.

Now to kill Yoritomo.

LOTRS update: got the emperor, basically wiped out the light green army (I killed 3 generals in a row and made sure they had no castles so the "raised an army" event made a new warlord for another clan), neutered Genji clan. Now to (finally) fight yoritomo himself to see if I can kill him.

About horseback: I feel like the "difficulty" of killing generals might be scripted (ie don't kill someone before you're supposed to!) since the Heike warlords went down very easily yet I could not finish off generals from other clans. I hope the game doesn't force me to hunt for an invisible objective before being able to kill Yoritomo.

edit: latest gameplay video:
next video will be epic or a complete fail since I'll join all 4 warlords to attack Yoritomo all at once. I'd try some shurikens but I'm afraid to fail the assassination and have to commit sudoku (the game DELETES THE GODDAMN SAVE when you die ](*,))

I think that's seppuku. Although the prospect of being forced to play sudoku until you die is fascinating.

I think Punch intentionally used "sudoku" because, personally, seppuku is far more enjoyable than sudoku.
