Any idea how the music is the GBA Donkey Kong Country? Probably doesn't sound as good does it?

Great sale thread, someone pick up Fire Emblem, great game!

Why do you have all this crap?

My guess is that a wealthy 9 year old left it to you in his will ages ago and it's only just now being taken care of.

If this is correct, please don't confirm. That's a sad story.

I'm a huge Yoshi's Island fan and when the GBA ver of that came out I was pretty impressed. However, the sound just isn't ever going to be as good on a GBA as it is on a SNES. You can do pretty much the same stuff, it's just all scratchy and noisey coming from the GBA. This is probably largely due to the electronics being so crammed in there, having an LCD screen attached, etc. It seems like the Gameboy Player would sound better if this is the case, a little at least, but I've never done an A/B.

They also f-ed up the lava levels but that's rather secondary.

The Mother 3 soundtrack is pretty awesome, much like Mother 2, but again, noise. They may be using lower quality samples too, the songs in Yoshi's Island are probably just digitally compressed copies of the SNES tracks but honestly the noise is so bad it's hard to tell.

Btw, while writing this I came across this rather terrific thing in Wikipedia.

Quote
While Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto worked on Super Mario World, he thought to make Yoshi the series' "next hero" since the game designer did not like the other Yoshi games, including Yoshi's Safari and Yoshi's Cookie, and thought he could make something more authentic. When he first brought the game to Nintendo marketing, they declined the game for having Mario-style graphics rather than the vogue, computer pre-rendered graphics of Donkey Kong Country. In comparison, they felt that his game lacked the power to impress.[12] Incensed and opposed to the style, Miyamoto instead further escalated his cartoonish visuals into a hand-drawn, crayon style.[6][12] Nintendo's marketing department accepted this revision. Miyamoto later recalled feeling that the marketing department wanted "better hardware and more beautiful graphics instead of ... art".[12] Around the time of his rejection, Miyamoto said that "Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good".[12]"

The numbers are all footnotes that came along for the ride...
