PC Engine shuttle controller/6 button controllers?

I have two USA Turbo Duo controllers, one original PCE controller (no Turbos),

Ahhh, another example of the good ol' TG16 kickin PCE ass.   8)

Seriously though, for all of the name-knocking and bad-cover-art rants the Turbo gets it is cool that it kind of "lived up to it's name"
...or at least the word "Turbo."
I remember when the TG was released Turbo buttons/switches were still a novelty or a feature that only high-end controllers like the NES Advantage and Max pads offered.
When I was ten years old a friend and I were looking at an issue of EGM and I was pointing to the TurboGrafx and excitedly telling him how "all of the controllers have turbo buttons!"

BTW, the NES Max controller is my all-time favorite pad.  I beat Life Force, Metal Gear, TMNT 1, Ultima Avatar and most of my other NES games with that thing.

Rock on, Vestcoat. I not only choose the Turbo Duo controller over the PCE most of the time for the turbo switches, but for the looks :) . I still think the original PCE controllers looks great and I love to use it when playing on my PCE, but the Turbo Duo one just looks frickin' sweet. I think it even looks cooler than the PCE Duo controllers even though they are pretty similar. TG16 over PCE 4life  8) .

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I love my Duo-RX controllers, it has a more ergonomic shape and feels really nice.  The D-pad is larger and is sloped inward, the buttons have a much smoother feel to them.  I'd say $30 is a very good deal for one of them, considering I paid $45 for my 2nd one (I liked it that much :P).  Here's some pics of one of mine:

That's not the controller I was thinking of, I'm getting the black/blue 6 button controller and the RX pad mixed up.  That RX pad looks AWESOME, it looks just like a PCFX controller!  I wonder if there's a way to convert a PCFX controller to Duo since they're cheaper?  Damn now I want an RX controller bad, I absolutely love the PCFX controller.

The only differences between the RX and PC-FX controllers are slight color differences, no PC-FX logo on the RX one, and the RX one has more individual rapid fire switches.

Man it seems like they would have mass produced those things, it's weird that the best controller is also the hardest to find.

I wonder if they only were only bundled with the duo-rx system and not sold separately, that could explain why there seem to be so few, most duo-rx's I see on ebay no longer have them.

They were sold seperately also, called "Arcade Pad 6" I believe (like this auction says ) . I've seen them on ebay with their original box before a couple times.

Where are the 3rd party controllers? Seriously. I've only ever seen 3 controllers for the PCE (and none for the turbo) that weren't made by NEC itself. Why?  :?

Both of my CoregrafxII controllers have pretty stiff dpads.. My Hori fighting commander and my Avenue 3 pad both have "normal" feeling dpads.  I love the Hori pad, but it SUCKS having to reach all the way over the slomo switch to hit RUN. For that reason, the Avenue Pad 3 has become my favorite controller. Im still trying to get my hands on an RX pad, but i can think of a few games where i'd pick the Avepad 3 over it. Having the RUN button as button 3 is just so badass :D

I've seen some third party controllers for the Turbo. At least from two different companies, although I can't recall their names now (Beeshu? I think that was one).

I picked up a 3rd party controller called a "Battle Pad" a while ago, it is probably the most comfortable 2 button pad I've ever used (though it sure is ugly).
