Greetings
« on: April 15, 2016, 10:29:51 AM »
Greetings forumites! Long time TG16/PCE gamer here looking for a place to call home on the interwebs.

I hear this is the place to be for insider deals, free shit, and general forum leeching. I kid I kid....

Seriously though, Just a software engineer from down south that got back into the retro scene several years ago after finding my old consoles at my parents house. I have a huge love for the TG16 and PCE, and can't wait to talk shop.

I frequented forums in the past, but got fed up with the drama and politics, so I gave it a break for a while. I decided to see what's out there again and found this place. Looks like a great community with lots of info and love for the NEC consoles. Thanks for having me!

Welcome!  Do be aware that some insider deal may be a bit hard to get until you've spent time with us.  It's too easy for scummy reseller to make new account to come here, snap up cheap deals, then flip on eBay at a huge markup.  Many of the raffle often comes with minimum post count so check your status.

Enjoy your stay with us!  PS wouldn't hurt to start with your favorite console (PCE, TG-16, Duo, etc) and favorite game.

Duh! How did I forget that? I really stink at intros. My setup is the TG16/CD platform with a super system card. It's my favorite. I've had it since childhood, and I've never owned any other.

I've always wanted to get a core grafx, but haven't. I actually like not having a way to play japanese hucards. It's kept my buying in check. I have an everdrive for that purpose.

A favorite game is tough. For shooters, it has to be Gate of Thunder, with Blazing Lazers 2nd. GOT is about the best shooter I've ever played, and I have a few. Very well balanced, great music, and I've played the hell out of it.

Platformers would be Rondo, and shockman 3. I am a HUGE castlevania fan, and Rondo really tickles my ass pink.

RPGs are Dragon Slayer and the Dungeon Explorer games. Order of the Griffin is great once you get into it. Getting over the beginning hump can be tough. I really wish more of the great JPRPGs were brought to America.

In regards to inside deals, I don't buy much these days, so I don't anticipate lurking in the sales threads. About the only turbo game I want is Final Zone 2, and maybe the US last alert. I have the JP version.

I only collected quality titles for any system. Stuff I will actually enjoy playing. That being the case, my collection is satisfactory to me at this point. No need to buy stuff just to have more of it on a shelf.

Anyhoo, that's all for now!

Red Alert/Last Alert is a decent game. Some nice little touches + soundtrack + cheesy English dub really help make it more unique and less generic than its brethren.

I think it is worth getting the NA version, even if you played the JP version already.

Final Zone II is, sadly, not as strong a game. It should have been more and better (there are so many varied stages in Red Alert...yet FZII is short and linear, with uninspired...everything). The cinemas (and music) are the best part of FZII, IMHO...but that "thrill" can't fix the game itself.

Obviously, any TG-16 fan should check FZII out...but don't get your hopes up...

Yeah, great points. Honestly the cheesy voice acting is the main reason I want FZ 2 lol

Welcome! Welcome! All are welcome...

Love the Turbo CD setup. Always wanted it as a kid. I run a Japanese Duo for cd games and Japanese Hueys. Still have my old TG-16 for US games.
Keith Courage is #1. Alpha Zone inhabitant for life. Thanks to this forum for rejuvenating and continuing my interest in all things Obey.
