Need a pair of speakers, advice?
« on: April 30, 2016, 12:07:15 PM »
so I got a PVM recently, and I need a couple speakers to go with it.
anyone have some advice/recommendations?
not looking to break the bank, but i'm comfortable spending maybe $100 on the pair.

the monitor has an amp, so i can do either RCA or direct speaker wire.
thanks!

I think the amps in those monitors suck.  For $100 you could get a nice set of 2.0 PC speakers, or you could buy a tri-path amp and some Micca bookshelf speakers.  Either way it would be better than trying to plug speakers directly into the monitor.  I have a couple of sets of Bose Companion II speakers for my PVMs, which were about $90 per pair.  I like them, but if I could do it all over again, I'd try a t-amp and some little bookshelf speakers.

I picked up one of the Lepai class T amps a while back for my entertainment center. Since it has technically two inputs, I can use it on my dual CRT setup. For speakers, I had a pair of no name hand-me-downs that I replaced the blown mid's on. 20a was fine for my purposes.
