My North American System 3.1 card worked on both Turbo and PCE systems. It was lost and I haven't tried my current copy on various hardware.

The contacts on those large ram hucards do that.  I had issues eventually with my Arcade Card Duo and Street Fighter CE cards.  Nothing some paper underneath the hucard couldn't fix.  Makes a nice snug fit and the contacts make a good connection.  If not I'd just get a white screen.

Anybody still have pics of that homemade 'every console-in-one' wooden monstrosity that they can post to show xelement5x the ultimate setup for gaming convenience?

This one?

Man, bacteria does some crazy mods.  I remember him back on the gp32x.com forums back in the day.  He did some pretty good mod work.  That think is a monstrosity, but pretty interesting.

95% of the time untested = definitely borked.

It's impossible to integrate with an entertainment or TV stand...

Le wut?  It's standard A/V component sized, integrating quite nicely with run of the mill receivers, amps, cd players, tape decks, etc.

That was supposed to be "entertainment center". I had to keep mine on the floor in front of my TV stand and move it out of the way to access the cabinet in the stand. My other consoles sack on racks, shelves, etc. I had arcade cabinets in my living room that didn't take up much more floor space and had controls, screen and speakers all within the same vertical space. So the LaserActive wasn't worth playing Genesis and Sega-CD games on.

For video quality, Genesis systems do RGB and you can get nice s-video using an XMD3. The LaserActive combo is stuck at composite.

I wouldn't say it's stuck in composite....

I would say my laseractive does look huge and out of place next to my other consoles, but it does fit it the TV stand

Yeah, the LA fits fine in my entertainment center, almost perfectly actually with a couple of PACs to the side.  I think I took a picture of the setup in the happy place thread and posted it there.

Personally I think the composite is okay for what it is (much better than a stock Genesis for sure), and all things considered the RGB mod is pretty easy to do.

I understand what you're saying about it being unwieldy to some folks Black Tiger, but personally I found it to work very well for my gaming setup.   Now, this is also considering the fact that I didn't have to pay $1600 or more for my unit like you would have had to do when it was new.
