A little late, but to the OP:
25 years ago, everybody had access to the same informations.
The whole mass of sheeps chose SuperNes or Megadrive.
1% was able to read between lines, avoid marketing and were open minded enough to choose The PcE/Turbo.
The 99% of sheeps at best didn't even know of the PcE, although the console was covered by generalist magazines, or were overlooking and mocking PcE owners.
One day, the PcE became hyped, and the 99% who didn't give a shit about the PcE the day before start to collect them all, attracting scammers/hoarders, prices become obscene and certain games are now unobtainable.
Can't you understand why the 1% is pissed off?
I am personally part of this situation. I love PcE since 89, had a Duo and a GT in the 90's, then stopped for some reason. Got back in the real hardware thing in 2012 and started to collect all the games I once had and all the ones I had not. Mid-life crisis, yeah.
I participate to this madness, so I'll never show off or ask for super deals, because I understand the old timers' resentment and have nothing but respect for them. They were here and stayed true from day one.
