REAL Arcade Joysticks for PCE/Duo or Xbox 360.
« on: September 15, 2006, 06:10:22 PM »
I have mastered modifying joysticks to work on the Turbo Dup/PC Engine,
and I replace the buttons with genuine Happ arcade parts - the finest available in America. Please note that I developed this stick mod for the Xbox 360, so from here out that's how it'll be referred to. If you want it for PCE though, not a problem.

The price is kind of high, but this is currently the only way to get an authentic arcade stick for the Xbox 360 besides building it yourself. These sticks far exceed the quality of the Hori Dead or Alive Stick, or any other joystick available in retail for other systems. They're the real deal! Sanwa sticks possibly coming some day?

Pics of the stick in action:

Check out that Guide button
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/eastx/360/ethanholdingstickguidebutton.jpg

The white button on the left side is the Guide button. The two black
buttons on the right are the Left and Right Thumbstick buttons. The 8
face buttons are A, B, X, Y, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, Left Trigger,
and Right Trigger.

I've worked out the costs of the components for ya:
Happ Competition Joystick & Buttons: $35
Check out the official Happ site to see that this is a competitive price:
http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/joysticks_amusement.htm Happ sticks are available in Blue, Red, Yellow, Black, and Green.
Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT or Seimitsu LS-32 Joystick & Happ Buttons: $64 These are Japanese short, ball-top style sticks. They are more expensive because they have to be imported, but some swear by their comfort. Ball top colors for Sanwa/Seimetsu sticks: Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Yellow.

360 Wired Control Pad: $35
If you want this to work as a PC Engine controller, you must submit me a pad and this charge will be omitted.

Housing: Here you have a choice...
Street Fighter Anniversary Stick Housing $50 (No original box, poster, or comic included - add $20 if you desire these)
OR
Naki Housing
http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/cellngame...esstickJPG.jpg $30

Labor: $15. This is my profit!

Shipping: Estimated $15 for 1st class w/ Delivery Confirmation

You have your choice of button colors from the following:
Red, Blue, Black, Green, Yellow, White, Orange & Purple. Please be specific about what color *each* button will be.

Notes about buttons:
If you choose Street Fighter Anniversary Stick housing, the Start and
Back buttons will be black, smaller than standard size buttons.

The Guide and Left & Right Thumbstick buttons will not be Happ buttons
by default. They will be generic (but match the color of your stick)
unless you add $6 for genuine Happs.

If you do not want Left and Right Thumbstick buttons on the right side
of the unit, you can choose to exclude them. You can also leave out
the Back button if you want the Guide button to be on the top of the
stick instead of the side.

This modified stick will have a standard headset jack. The Microsoft
Xbox 360 Headset will not be useable unless you get an extension
cable, which I can add for $10 or you can order for yourself online. Many standard headsets are available that feature volume control and mute higher up on the cord than the Microsoft 360 headset as well.

You can choose to mail me an official Microsoft
wired pad (or PCE/Duo pad) or joystick housing if you'd rather not pay for those components.

Please email me at segacon at gmail.com me with questions and requests.
Turnaround time is estimated at 2 weeks from payment. Paypal ($3 charge) or money orders are accepted.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

If you want more buyers you might want to consider offering Sanwa components. Happ has pretty good buttons (if you buy the right ones, I can't remember the name) but many people will prefer the Sanwa sticks. Personally, IMO, nothing compares to Sanwa but even if they weren't the best made stuff out there a lot of people prefer the short ball-stype "Japan-style" sticks from Sanwa to the large bat handled "American style" Happ ones. Both are excelent, its really a matter of preference.

You can get Sanwa stuff here: http://www.himuragames.com/store_joysticks.php

Sanwa sticks too!

Okay, I had not listed them because using Sanwa sticks is not really affordable... But if you want a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT or Seimitsu LS-32 (Japanese ball-top sticks), they are available for $29 extra to the order. The buttons will still be Happ because IMO they are just better, and we don't want prices getting crazy.
So for a Sanwa order, the stick and buttons charge will be $64 total versus $35 for all Happ parts.
Ball top colors for Sanwa/Seimetsu sticks: Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Yellow.

Also, Happ Competition Sticks (NOT Ultimates, that was an error)
are available in Blue, Red, Yellow, Black, and Green.

Any other suggestions, let me know. I'm looking for other cases to use too. ~ ~
