So I'm in Knoxville

Anyone have any recommendations on stuff to do?  Also flea markets or game stores worth visiting?

Go to Dollywood and ride the Dollywood Express in celebration of my former life working there as a train conductor.  Then go to Dixie Stampede.  PS - if you have no date or children with you, these are bad ideas.

Beamer is the Knoxville expert though, if he is around anywhere.

My fiancĂ©e is already very interested in Dollywood and the Dixie Stampede, so we might end up there this week depending on how hot it gets.  It's cool that you used to work there!

I found about Time Warp Tea Room, apparently it has a couple of pinball tables there, plus the tea room aspect appeals to her and her mom and sister.  Then there is a barcade called Harrogate's Lounge which could be cool.

I wouldn't mind some awesome restaurants to try also.  Also as a side project, trying to hit up all the fast food we don't have in MD.  Went to a Zaxby's already (shrug) and want to try Cook Out some day this week.

Beamer, chime in if you see this man!

Cook Out is decent.  Not amazing, but good.  What is really good for Cook Out is the 42 different shakes.  Food is cheap though.

I lived there for a summer, bit I was in the Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg area and didn't spend a ton of time in Knoxville proper.  The 3 towns I named are just tourist traps, so you can find a lot to do while you drove through.

I remember bungee jumping at Wild Woodys as well, they have a big wooden go kart track that was fun too.  The aquarium in Gatlinburg was a fun stop as well.

That's a lot of shakes.

Yeah, all those areas are fair game too.  I am interested in Ripleys for sure, particularly the mini-golf.  Mini-golf is my jam.  Noticed all the arcade auctions that used to be in MD happen frequently here, too. None while I'm here though, sadly.

Auction Games Sales holds auctions in Sevierville...next on is Aug 6th. Too bad you're out of town. I do not bother with the TN auctions anymore, too far to risk not finding anything.

Pretty sure you can play obey in TN...

I'm home now but we'll be back many more times I'm sure.  Drive blows, 8 hours with my sad dog who doesn't like car rides.  I'm sure I will be able to hit up one of the auction times eventually if I keep an eye out on them.  It would suck to actually buy something though, I really don't have a way of hauling it from TN to MD.

If you make it to Gatlinburg, you must play Hillbilly Golf.

If you are back you gotta give the summary of what you did.  Must've been some cool shit if you will be going back multiple times.

Thanks, I saw that one I think!  I love mini golf.  We were all set to play Ripley's Old MacDonald's Farm while we were in Pigeon Forge, but it was so rainy and it just didn't happen.  Soon!

Ah, lemme explain!  The fiancee's parents moved out there, so it's not because I found it a treasure trove of fun activities but because of family.  We did manage to go see Dixie Stampede which was a little bit of a groanfest for me but the others liked it a lot.  I'm just a stick in the mud!  Other than that, mostly outlet shopping, going out to eat, and we took Pippa to a nearby dog park in which she was totally accosted but much smaller dogs (she's a pug.)  Oh, and we went to some place called Goats on the Roof.  They have some goats on their roof there above the building they sell goat and black bear merchandise.  So I'll just be back there now and then.  Christmas will probably be next.  Dollywood will happen in cooler weather.  There was talk of getting some cabins out that way, which could be nice.
