As stated by others, Turbo CD was used in a better way...none of that FMV mess.

Turbo and PCE CD games do have fmv and only a small percentage of the Sega/Mega-CD library can be considered "fmv games".

Yeah. The term "FMV" is used way too many times in this thread by people who obviously haven't actually taken a good look at the system. It's probably more accurate to say that Sega's marketing term was all about FMV and that's why it's still the only thing that comes to mind for most people.

The games that are considered straight-"fmv" style as far as gameplay are titles like Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. That kind of gameplay is popular today and featured in many of the biggest hit games which win "Game of the Year" awards.

I don't understand the stigma associated with Sega-CD games which feature fmv. If you only count the kind I described, it's not a lot and people love the gameplay when they don't think a Sega-CD is connected. The rest of the Sega-CD games that contain fmv are traditional genre games. I think that games with fmv only nake up 18% of the worldwide Sega/Mega-CD library.

Of all the lame stereotypes casual retro enthusiasts pick up, the Sega-CD "fmv crap" is the worst.

I am fully aware that SegaCD isn't all FMV, but it is a large share of it's catalog...I'm also aware that a few titles on our beloved Turbo delved into FMV territory.

But yes between both platforms, the Turbo/PCE-CD has more to offer overall, not only in sheer volume, but variety of content, esp if you are a Japanese reading/speaking individual.

I shouldn't have to expand on my original answer, but hell here it is...

FMV Crap =

Sewer Shark
Tomcat Alley
Night Trap
Ground Zero Texas
Etc...

Those kinds of games forever ruined my memories of Sega CD.  There were some great games, like Final Fight CD, Out of this World, Lunar, The Terminator, and one of my favs, Silpheed. As much as I liked those games, I still get an ulcer when thinking about Sega CD because of those damned FMV games.

Well...then you're stupid. That's the only way to put it.

In terms of libraries, the PCE mops the floor with the FEKA CD.  It has some damn fine games (Flink is a personal favorite), but the PCE has 10x more.

It's hard to pick a clear winner on hardware capabilities.  Each has its advantages: the FEKA with a speedy cpu, hardware scaling and rotation, and more ram than Super CD; the PCE-CD still with more colors and gobs of rame with the Arcade Card.

I'll take bigger sprites and more colors any day of the week.  Not to mention no Ys Book I & II, Spriggan, or Gate of Thunder.

All hail nec!

You ask this on a PCE/Turbo forum? Seriously? Sega never had a killer app for their Sega CD whereas NEC had at least a dozen. Enough said.

I prefer the PC Engine CD, but the few times I've seen this same subject come up on other forums normally the Mega-CD/Sega CD comes out on top. To give examples I was searching some other forums where I'd seen it discussed in the past but couldn't find the threads.

this was posted as I was typing out my post above.
I prefer PC Engine CD but the Mega-CD/Sega CD without doubt did have some "killer apps".

Why play Robo Aleste when you can play Spriggan?  I would  take Bari-Arm over Robo Aleste.  It was such a let down.  There are some great games on the Sega CD just few and far between.  The library is way smaller.

This poll/thread has to be a new kind of filter to purge the Sega fanboy accounts from PCFX.
