PC Engine CD/TurboGrafx CD Vs Mega-CD/Sega CD - which is better?
« Reply #30 on: July 06, 2016, 05:34:52 AM »
MORE: Le Musique.

The Sega CD/Mega CD has a wealth of Red Book tunes that I, sadly, only know about 30-50% of.

For example, Nostalgia 1907 has a soundtrack that I really dig (for whatever reason, don't get too excited). Anyway, I really like listening to it when I work.

Only for MEGA CD.

Why play Robo Aleste when you can play Spriggan?  I would  take Bari-Arm over Robo Aleste.  It was such a let down.  There are some great games on the Sega CD just few and far between.  The library is way smaller.

Canceling out games is only what console war fans do. Why not play all the good 16-bit games? If Sonic and Mario cancel each other out, then neither is a killer app.

I just don't think Robo Aleste is a good game.  I owned the Sega CD around the same time I got my Duo back in the day.  I enjoyed both, just the Duo a lot more.

I've always maintained that Spriggan is a far superior game to Musha Aleste let alone Robo Aleste.
Spriggan is an absolute masterpiece, those other two are average at best.

YES.

Anyway, I'm not really adding anything here but yeah it's PCE CD by a mile. The Sega CD library pales in comparison.

I've never liked Musha, ever since renting it and playing through a couple times when it first came out. Just like Sylphia, few people cared about it for years until collectards heard that Complie might be involved. Then it instantly became an uber rare and legendary game. Robo Aleste is more interesting. I still like Musha more than a lot of games because it's still a decent game and a shooter, but I just find it boring.

Choosing FEKA CD auto-bans your account.

Games aren't fun until they are rare and collectible obviously.

I have seen iterations of this thread many times and I'll say what I always do:

In terms of US only releases, I feel like the SegaCD has a better library.

But in terms of a global or even Japananese only market, the PCE CD family is the clear leader.

In Japan the MegaDrive was nowhere near as popular, and the devs and amount of money and time spent on producing titles for it pales in comparison to what was put into the PCE CD.  I love them both and play and collect for them both, and both have some excellent exclusive titles too.

SegaCD is like that one time you got a random hookup in college, and they were super cute, but the sex wasn't much to write about. You still think about it from time to time; a strange mixture of disappointment and admiration (she was super cute).

This thread is the pcefx thread equivalent of a rhetorical question asked by a musician during a concert.

"Any metal fans here tonight?"

"Are you ready to rock?"

"I can't hear you!"

"Hey PCEfx forum, is the PCE better than FEKA?!"

*Crowd roads incoherently*
