turbo everdrive prob
« on: August 18, 2016, 03:42:52 AM »
soooo i got a 2.4 turbo everdrive in the post today (bubble-wrapped in a shredded cardboard box, not cool gamesconnection.co.uk!) it appears ok but after trying to set it up i'm getting an error screen (error 38) ive posted on krikzz's boards as well but thought someone here might have had the same prob?

ive got an unmodded coregrafx i have tried different mem cards formatted different ways and have downloaded multiple versions of the files needed and tried placing the os.pce file and the TEDB folder everywhere i can think of. No joy.

ugh, was really looking forward to it as well. Not important but related to the post the card itself is a tight fit and a bit of a bitch to remove that's normal though right? the pcb is somewhat on the thick side.

any help much appreciated.

In the future, buy direct from retrogate.

The first thing to try is replacing the bios/drivers on the card. Only download them from retrogate.

Those are the files i've tried and gamesconnection.co.uk is a registered dealer of krikzz's products.

The PCB is very thick by default, so is mine.

Just for posterity's sake and for anyone else (as its going back tomorrow) I've tried 5 different micro sd cards: 2gb no brand 4gb toshiba, a 4gb and 8gb samsung and a 32 transcend for good measure. A mixture of classes and sd/sdhc etc after 8 hours of trying different things im giving up.

Just copied this from my Krikzz post:

Well a friend lent me their win laptop and i think i've worked it out.

3 of the cards now work after formatting in the verbatim program below, Sd formatter seemed to only format to fat16 which was strange and after trying various options within it i gave up. the Verbatim program has no options whatsoever so its format to fat32 or its nothing. And it worked! go figure.

In Linux i could format to fat32 via gparted or just in disks but for whatever reason it mmust produce a fractionally different fat32 outcome. Anyway hopefully this helps someone in the future. Dont give up on a card and throw a wobbly like me because regardless of size/brand/sdhc or whatever it might work if you put it through the verbatim program or sd formatter.

So on the end, same problem as in this thread:

http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5484.0

Here's the link from that thread to a program called Smartdisk fat32tool:

thanks goombakid and thanks aloram and thanks kerr avon.
