Anyone collect VIDPRO CARDs?
« on: August 30, 2016, 01:43:19 AM »
Just curious if anyone collects the VIDPRO CARDs from Toys R Us for their games?
I saw a few on ebay, but $15+ per card seems like a lot to me.   Thoughts?

I would like to own them, since I have collectard in me, but most people would pass considering the price and the fact that there is nothing unique or special about the content/presentation (compare VidPro to the back of retail boxes).

If the text/images/layout was drastically different, I would love to create a page with side-by-side comparisons.

But, that's because I am obsessed with nuances and the retail experience.

They're neat but not worth such silly prices, especially split up into singles instead of being kept as a set.

I have none, but I do have a set of cards out of a Turbob kiosk display.

I've got a couple, just Working Designs ones.  That seller actually had a Parasol Stars Vidpro up earlier for like $30 and I thought about it but was like that is a lot of money for a tiny laminated piece of cardboard.  So I noped outta that.

These are my thoughts as well.   I kind of like the idea of collecting them (as esteban says, the collectard in me), but the prices are just nuts for cardboard inserts.

I have a couple that are sunfaded and the lamination is coming apart.

What is kind of cool is that games that weren't released sometimes had VidPro cards produced.

I did not know this!

Are we talking TV SPORTS Baseball?

Or Star Parodia... ? Trying to think of games that actually were reviewed... or had English title screens created... before TTi closed its doors... would Dynastic Hero be a candidate?

I have to find that old thread where we (you) speculated on the chronology of release dates... ("sloppy release dates for NA games" or something like that...)

VIDPRO CARD of unreleased game(s) WOULD BE GREAT because, obviously, we could see what the proposed retail packaging/art/layout would be.

:)

Unless, of course, you are just messing with me...

Wow, never thought about them for unreleased titles.   That's awesome!
Does anyone know what cards exist for unreleased titles?

Syphic has the TV Sports Baseball vidpro card.

I bet he would scan it if you ask nicely (aka on your knees)

Where is syphic, anyway? Isn't he the one with the video of boxed TG-16 Mother Lode @Craigslist?

I think Dan mentioned that Happily Ever After NES game had Vidpro cards made for it, though that game was eventually just dumped and released recently.

There's quite a few NES unreleased ones. I'm not aware of any Turbo ones however, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there.
