First post - Think it's in the right part of the forum. If not, my apologies.

So - Bought my first PC Engine stuff. Bought it as a gamble locally, bad images, scarce description. Seller didn't really know what the games were called, but he was confident that everything worked.

Really, really, really excited to try it out. Been wanting one for a long time, but they are always so expensive, but I have a bit of room in the budget right now, so the timing is right. Coryoon and Rondo of Blood have been high on my wishlist of games to try for a long time. If you have them for sale at decent prices, and you're inside the European Union, feel free to send me a message :)

Anyway, problem is that I'm away for work for the next 5 weeks.

I want to go see some YouTube videos with the gameplay of the games, and figure out, if I need to order some stuff, so I can get everything up and running when I get back, and not wait for weeks to get stuff from Japan.

I'm not knowledgeable enough about the library to decipher what the games are from these blurry pictures. A few of them, sure, but not all of them.

So:

- Could someone help identify what the games are called?
- Could someone guide me to what else I need to order to get everything up and running when I get back? Guessing those controllers are only good for some games and I'd need to buy some normal ones as well?

Thank you for your help - Looking forward to learn more about the library and maybe try to contribute a bit to this community :)

The one below Bonks Adventure, I presume? Thank you :)

Can make some of them out - Ghosts n' Goblins, Splatterhouse, 1941, Mr. Heli and a few others. But mostly I have no clue what so ever

Thank you :)

Battle Ace looks nauseating...

Aldynes looks entertaining though.

Oh boy - Yeah. Knew that. Got carried away with excitement. So will probably have to hold a bit on that on, until I figure out what the smartest way to play disc based games is.

Next to the Bonk is the JP version of Samurai Ghost.

Second pic:
granzort, aldynes, 1941 (sgx), legendary axe
splatterhaus, dondokodon, ???, namcot something
tiger road?

Getting a SGX and those games is pretty nice.  If you didn't pay a lot that was probably a killer pickup.

Awesome - Thank you for the help. Almost got all of them figured out now. A lot of them look really enjoyable, and I will be looking forward to trying them out :)

So far only 3 to go:

- Cadash
- Bonks Adventure
- Ordynes
- Samurai Ghost (Genpei Toma Den)
- Dungeon Explorer
- Ghosts n' goblins (daimakaimura)
- Battle Ace
- ???
- Mr. Heli
- Granzort
- Splatterhouse
- Aldynes
- Don Doko Don
- 1941 Counter Attack
- ???
- Tora e no Michi (Tiger Road)
- Legendary Axe
- ???

Getting a SGX and those games is pretty nice.  If you didn't pay a lot that was probably a killer pickup.

I paid €200 - Don't know if that is a good deal or not. I'm not sure if everything works - I'm not even sure if all the HU cards are in the cases. Was a bit of a gamble, but judging form eBay prices, seems like it's a potentially solid deal so far.

Can't find much info on the controllers though, and whether they are any good to play with.

Welcome aboard and nice set of games to start out with.  Games from left to right and top to bottom in each pic: Cadash, Bonk's Adventure, Genpei Tormaden (the first one - Samurai Ghost is the sequel), Ghouls and Ghosts, Legendary Axe II, Ordyne, Dungeon Explorer, Battle Ace, and Mr. Heli; and Granzort, Aldynes, 1941, Legendary Axe, Splatterhouse, Don Doko Don, Heavy Unit, World Court Tennis, and Tiger Road.

Assuming the power supply and a/v cables are correct, you should be all set.  Joy stick or gamepad are a personal preference, but those sticks will function just fine in the games you have; the only thing you might need eventually is a couple 6-button pads (or sticks) for games that can use 'em, namely vs. fighters.

P.S. - It wasn't in the right area and has been moved.  For future reference, the PC-FX is a separate system and not a reference to the forum itself.

200 euro is a solid price for it all.  I think 1941 for the SGX is super expensive anymore so you could probably sell that alone and get your self a super cd romrom or a briefcase + RAU to get CD support going as well.

Agreed, €200 (~$225) is a hell of a price.  The five SuperGrafx games alone are worth probably double that.

Thanks for the advice - I've been looking into the options recommended and decided I'll try to source a Super CD-ROM2

I find the entire System Card debate confusing, even though I have read numerous articles about the last day, but am I correct when I've concluded that the following setup:

- SuperGrafx
- Super CD-ROM2
- Arcade Card Duo

Will give me access to the entire library, apart from the unlicensed and laseractive stuff?

You may want to just try playing what you have for now and not get ahead of yourself.

What you have above is right.

A Super CD-RomRom has the 3.0 card built into it but I know they are kind of pricey.  Like I said earlier the other option is a IFU-30+ RAU adapter, but in that case you'd need a 3.0 card and/or an arcade card pro.

The hammerhead setup of the SGX+ SuperCDROMROM is pretty cool looking though, hard to deny.

200 € ? Man ! That sure is a nice catch. A very, very nice catch. 1941 goes for more than that.
And you already have the Supergrafx fullset !
