WTB TurboExpress & TG16
« on: November 01, 2016, 02:38:24 AM »
Hey guys! I just stumbled upon this forum a couple days ago after talking to my kids about my old Turbografx 16 and TurboExpress.  I have no idea what has happened to them over the years, and I would like to get them replaced so that I can introduce my kids to some of these really good games.

I would really like to either buy a modded TE with a 3.5" screen or find someone that can do this for me.  I feel pretty confident that I can recap if needed.

Please hit me up and let me know what you've got.

Thanks!!

Good luck finding an Express with a new screen.  I have been looking for months to find someone to mod my Express with a new screen.  It seems like a very uncommon mod with little to no instructions of how to do it online.  Most modders I talk to will not even try it due to lack of information and the ones that have done it successfully all seem to be too busy with other projects.

Check out http://www.tg16pcemods.com/  the guy goes by Turbokon on here.   Not sure if he's taking new mod work, or has any items for sale.  But certainly worth asking him.

Keith Courage was doing them at some point, not sure if he still is.  i think there may have been an issue with finding compatible screens though iirc.  that may be why no one wants to do one.

BladeDancer314 from neo-geo told me that he is no longer able to source the LCDs.

So that's the issue.  Wonder how they are able to still do Nomads and Game Gears?  Must be different sized screens.

I dunno what screen they use in the TE, but this is the one a lot of people put into nomads

the Game gear ones are custom built because of the way those screens work.

Thanks for the info.  I am tempted to buy some of those screens and try the mod myself.  My soldering skills are suspect however and with no instructions online I would need some serious guidance.  Anyone here willing to teach me?

I have a almost brand new "looking" turbob express that I can sell for $400. I have personal and emotional and sexual attachment to it, that's why I want a lot pesos for it. It comes with Raiden video game and a oem wrist strap that I include for free.

Keith Courage did mine last year and I love it makes such a huge difference compared to the stock screen.  I recently recapped a stock TE and while the original screen is amazing for it's time I can't play on it.

If you need guidance let me know I have an idea how the mod is done plus I can take mine apart.  Keep in mind that the mod is composite video so it won't be a razor sharp RGB picture but much better than the stock screen.
