Lol, I tried it out in Magic Engine and it is an overall improvement.

Now there are no sound effects during battle. :P

So are you saying that the music keeps playing now or that there is no sound effects as well as no music?

Was this answered? Cause I'm honestly OK with just music and no sound effects during battles.  :)

Yes, that's what happened. The music never cut out because there are no longer any sound effects. It's difficult to play without effects if you aren't used to the game yet. Probably best to start out playing the normal game and then switch to this once you're comfortable with the battles again.

I was going to suggest the soundtrack from Ice Pirates, but either one would do fine.

I can't listen to other music while playing a game.  Don't know why.  I just have to have the actual game music and all the other sounds.

I'm kind of in the same boat, but when I was in my youth my older bros/sisters used to blast AC/DC or Guns 'n Roses while I was playing NES games in the living room.  It's broken me in ways.  Whenever I hear Axle or Bon Scott I immediately want to play Elevator Action and Double Dragon.  :) haha

I think it would be much easier and less complicated if someone just fixed the bug.

Excellent! Thank you, magister! Holyshit... 2017 is shaping up to be a great year for TG translations and hacks/bugfixes. You are truly a man among men. I can't wait to play the patched ROM. Come payday, I will eagerly pledge to your Kickstarter/GoFundMe/indigogo for this project.
Hot damn! :D

Hmm... I'm not so good at reading sarcasm and whatnot, or has magister posted a more elaborate bugfix?

I did write on page 1 of this thread:
With a headerless ROM, normal (PCE-style) bytes, change in a hex editor:

ROM address $19EF: 43 -> 60

And not a lot of feedback came as to whether this fix worked well through the (entire) game.

Ah, I misread... I thought Magister was taking this on like Alagor is doing for CF 3-4. Saw that "fixing it would be easier" and assumed he was jumping on the task.

I believe Arkhan applied your suggested fix and posted a ROM, but the result was that the music keeps playing and the sound effects never play.  Perhaps his fix was different than yours?

Sorry.  I have no knowledge when it comes to fixing these games.  I've just been throwing out the idea of it would be cool if someone fixed this and reproduced it on a card.

Yeah, I changed the byte in question and we got the inverse problem now.

OK, then quite frankly someone (else...) will have to do a more advanced hack to the music engine to monitor when an SFX ends, and restart music.  Good luck.

Anyone know where I can download just the music files for this game?  I've looked everywhere and no one seems to have just the music files for download.
